Kai Havertz agrees to join Arsenal

Striker Kai Havertz is said to have expressed his desire to move to Arsenal to his parent club Chelsea.

Havertz has been given the green light to leave this summer, with Chelsea having a surplus of players thanks to a massive shopping spree under new chairman Todd Boehly. Both are keen on signing the German international, but Arsenal are quicker than Man Utd. Last season's runners-up have agreed personal terms with Havertz, and the final decision rests with Chelsea.

Chelsea want $90 million, $11 million more than what they spent three years ago to sign Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. However, Arsenal are likely to negotiate a lower price. According to the Guardian , the Emirates Stadium owner is preparing a second offer, around $77 million.

Real Madrid are also interested in Havertz but are unwilling to pay more than $64 million. Bayern are also said to have recently jumped in, but it may be too late.

After falling behind Man City in the 2022-2023 Premier League title race, Arsenal are determined to strengthen their squad. In addition to Havertz, they aim to recruit West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Lavia is likely to join Arsenal after Southampton's relegation from the Premier League. Lavia's former club, Man City, has a buy-back clause, but it won't be activated until the summer of 2024. Meanwhile, Rice is valued at $120 million and is being chased by many big clubs. Coach Mikel Arteta is very serious about recruiting the English midfielder, and there are even rumors that he is willing to let Thomas Partey leave to make room for Rice if there is a reasonable offer.
