Apple is expected to launch a redesigned iPhone SE 4 in the spring of 2025. And it will certainly still be the "cheaper" option in Apple's iPhone lineup.

The design of the iPhone SE 4 is said to be similar to the standard iPhone 14, meaning Touch ID and the Home button will be replaced with Face ID and a "notch" display.

The iPhone SE 4 could also use an OLED display instead of an LCD, and the screen size will increase from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches. Other expected features for the next-generation iPhone SE include a USB-C port and an Action button.

According to Macrumors , even with the redesign and many new features, the iPhone SE 4 is said to still have a starting price of under $500.

According to recent leaks, the US launch price of the iPhone SE 4 will remain at the same starting price of $429 as the current iPhone SE model, or about a 10% increase over its predecessor. Regardless, Apple will try to keep the price below $500.

Why is the iPhone SE 4 cheaper?

According to supply chain sources, the price of display panels for the iPhone SE 4 is much cheaper than the supplier's price for the OLED display used for the iPhone 15.

This is because the display panel for the new iPhone SE will use the same old components as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Therefore, suppliers will not need to invest in R&D costs.

The iPhone SE 4 will also utilize hardware components from older iPhones, helping Apple optimize production costs and lower product prices. Display manufacturers are said to have received orders to supply panels for the new iPhone SE since August last year.

Previously, according to Appleinsider , the iPhone SE 4 will measure 148.5 x 71.2 x 7.8 mm and weigh 166 grams, with an aluminum frame and two glass sides. The iPhone SE 4 has a 6.1-inch 60Hz OLED "rabbit ear" screen design, marking the first time this technology has been used on the iPhone SE, with Face ID, and the back is similar to the XR.

For comparison, the iPhone SE 3 has a 4.7-inch LCD screen, so this can be considered a pretty impressive upgrade from the SE 4.

Source Nguyen Phi Hung, in April 2024 revealed on X, that the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with an IMX503 sensor, 1/2.55 inch, f/1.8, but the source said this single camera supports Cinematic 1080P video recording mode, Deep Fusion, Smart HDR, AI scene photography and portrait mode.

Previous leaks have suggested that the iPhone SE 4 will be released in early 2025.
