People in Xuan Giang commune (Quang Binh) have gone to the fields very early to weed, stir the mud, and fertilize the rice plants to make them grow more lush. Laughter and chatter echo throughout the fields, creating an atmosphere of enthusiastic work, the expectation of a bumper crop, bringing prosperity to many families. Ms. Hoang Thi Tich, Chi village shared: “If spring rice is properly cared for, it will have a good harvest. I have finished weeding and fertilizing with nitrogen and potassium to make the plants strong. At the same time, keeping the water level in the fields stable at 3 - 5 cm, helps the rice tiller well.”

This spring crop, Xuan Giang commune planted 234 hectares of rice; 116 hectares of corn; 112 hectares of peanuts and 80 hectares of vegetables and beans. With the goal of striving to increase the value of annual crop harvests to 90 million VND/ha, the commune has promoted people to actively and proactively follow the fields, grasp the weather situation, prevent rice blast disease, bacterial stripe disease on rice plants and armyworms on corn plants. Agricultural extension officers of the commune regularly visit the fields with people to guide scientific measures and techniques for plant care, apply the "4 rights" principle in using pesticides, combine biological measures and reasonable cultivation.

These days, farmers in Chang village, Phuong Thien commune (Ha Giang city) are also diligently taking care of their spring crops. With many years of farming experience, many households have boldly introduced new, short-term, high-yield, high-yield varieties into production. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen said: “Every year, my family harvests more than 1 ton of rice, which not only meets the family's food needs but also serves livestock and poultry farming. This crop, I introduced high-quality Hoa Uu rice to sow on an area of ​​1,000 m2. Up to now, the rice has been fertilized for the second time, the weather is gradually warming, quite favorable for the rice to grow. In addition, on dry fields, I grow vegetables, beans, and squash to sell at markets, supplementing my family's income and expenses."

According to the report of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, in the 2025 Spring crop, the whole province has planted 9,280 hectares of rice, reaching 100% of the plan. The main varieties are Nhi Uu 838, HKT99, Viet Lai 20, Thien Uu 8, Khang Dan 18... Most of the early and main-season rice crops are in the stage of intensive tillering and tillering, some late rice crops are taking root and greening. Corn has been planted on 21,258 hectares; soybeans on 2,932 hectares; peanuts on 5,385 hectares; vegetables and beans on more than 2,861.8 hectares. The Spring crop continues to affirm its role as the main crop of the year, contributing to stabilizing food supply and increasing farmers' income.

Aiming for a successful crop season, the professional sector has issued documents directing and recommending districts and cities to monitor and update weather forecast information, prepare response plans for drought, water shortage and the impact of climate change. Along with that, it is necessary to enhance the detection, estimation and accurate forecast of plant pests and diseases, and guide farmers to use safe, effective and environmentally friendly plant protection measures. In particular, it is necessary to carry out crop restructuring, form specialized areas, prioritize high-tech agricultural production models associated with digital transformation, linkage and sustainable product consumption.
