Thanh Tan Bamboo and Rattan Handicraft Production Cooperative (Thanh Tan Commune, Kien Xuong District, Thai Binh) is busy completing export orders for the 2025 Tet market.
As the Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, the production of bamboo and rattan products at Thanh Tan Cooperative (Thanh Tan Commune, Kien Xuong District, Thai Binh) becomes busier and more hectic. Hundreds of workers are working diligently and urgently to complete the final stages to export more than ten thousand products to foreign markets.
Thanh Tan Cooperative (full name is Thanh Tan Bamboo and Rattan Handicraft Production Cooperative) is one of the largest bamboo and rattan handicraft production establishments in Kien Xuong district (Thai Binh).
Established in 2019, the cooperative focuses on producing traditional rattan, bamboo, sedge, and jute handicrafts such as tables, chairs, boxes, lampshades, baskets, flower baskets, baby cribs, decorative items, etc.
The nature of the work is suitable for the characteristics and conditions of idle farming women, so it attracts more than 1,000 women from Thanh Tan commune and neighboring communes in Kien Xuong district, Dong Hung district, Tien Hai district, Thai Thuy district... to participate.
Through short-term vocational training courses organized by the Cooperative in coordination with the Women's Union of Thanh Tan commune, women quickly grasped the techniques and processes of weaving handicraft products.
Thanks to that, it creates regular jobs and stable income, especially for those who are over working age. With an average income of 3.5-4 million VND/person/month.
Peak production season is usually around Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year every year. Since September 2024, the cooperative has received many partners sending images of product samples to design and mass produce.
“Taking advantage of this development opportunity, we focus on design from the shape and size of the frame to the weaving technique and color mixing for products that meet the exact requirements of customers,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, Director of the Cooperative, shared.
Ms. Doan said that in order to maintain prestige with partners, in addition to maintaining product quality and design, the cooperative also encourages female craftsmen to make the most of their free time to knit and ensure on-time delivery.
Besides producing handicrafts woven from rattan, bamboo, and reed, Thanh Tan Bamboo and Rattan Handicraft Production Cooperative also researches and develops many more products woven from sedge, jute, duckweed, and paper.
Good quality factors, diverse designs, rich materials, environmentally friendly products and safe for consumers' health help the Cooperative's products conquer demanding markets such as Korea, Japan, some European countries, ...
During this year's Tet holiday, the cooperative has been rushing to complete tens of thousands of rattan and bamboo products with diverse designs, packing them into containers for export abroad.
It is known that the cooperative plans to expand the factory to serve production, processing, preservation and storage of goods to meet the needs of larger-scale production and to be qualified to directly export goods to foreign partners, not to export on consignment as at present. The cooperative's target is to reach 20 billion VND in revenue by 2025.
