In 2024, with the intertwined advantages and difficulties, with the efforts of the entire political system, business community and people in the province, the socio-economic situation maintained a positive trend, achieving many important results. GRDP in the province is estimated at over 71,300 billion VND, an increase of 7.01% over the same period in 2023. The economic scale of the province reached over 132,700 billion VND, ranking 23rd in the country, 8th out of 11 localities in the Red River Delta. The economic structure has shifted positively, with agriculture, forestry and fishery accounting for 19.7%, industry and construction accounting for 44.3%, services accounting for 30.41%, and product taxes minus product subsidies accounting for 5.6%.
In 2024, the province's agricultural, forestry and fishery production was affected by storm No. 3; the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production is estimated at over 13,700 billion VND, down 0.1% over the same period. The work of building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas continues to receive attention and direction in a practical and effective manner.
The industrial production index is estimated to increase by 11.2% over the same period last year; as of December 20, 2024, the whole province has 1,172 newly registered enterprises with a total investment capital of VND 12,604 billion. The total import and export turnover of goods in 2024 is estimated at 4,480 million USD, an increase of 10.7% over the previous year, the trade surplus of goods reached 1,077 million USD. Total state budget revenue in 2024 (as of December 31) reached over VND 27,500 billion, an increase of 41.3% over the estimate, an increase of 13.5% over the same period last year, of which domestic revenue realized was over VND 11,400 billion, an increase of 32.9% over the assigned estimate, an increase of 16.5% over the same period.
The total number of poor households in the province is 10,384, the poverty rate is 1.59%; the total number of near-poor households is 10,907, the poverty rate is 1.67%. The work of ensuring social security and caring for the people has been given attention and well directed.
At the press conference, representatives of press agencies and delegates raised questions about budget collection; building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas; development space for 2025... Leaders of the General Statistics Office and a number of departments and branches took time to answer questions from reporters, journalists and delegates on issues related to the socio-economic situation in 2024; at the same time, proposed a number of solutions to complete the targets in 2025.
