More than 5.6 million customers had their power restored after the storm, but how many households are still without electricity?

Electrical engineers fix problems to restore power to people after storms and floods

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that as of September 13, its member units had restored operation of the high-voltage grid for 11/14 incidents on the 500kV grid, 38/40 incidents on the 220kV grid, 10/10 220kV transformer stations, 182/190 110kV transformer stations, and restored and put into operation 97/104 110kV transformer stations.

According to EVN, due to the impact of strong storm winds and post-storm circulation, many power lines and distribution transformer stations in many northern provinces and cities suffered incidents.

The circulation after storm No. 3 caused heavy rain and flooding in 17 northern provinces (Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh, Bac Kan, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen and Hai Duong) causing power outages for many customers. In addition to damage to the power grid, many areas were flooded so much that they had to be temporarily isolated from operation to ensure electrical safety for customers.

With the urgency and great efforts of the units under the Northern Power Corporation, by the morning of September 13, 1,499/1,678 medium-voltage lines affected by storms had been restored to operation. By the morning of September 12, power had been restored to nearly 5.63 million customers out of a total of about 6.1 million customers affected by storms and floods (equivalent to a rate of more than 92%). Thus, nearly half a million households were still without electricity.

EVN said that power units in the North continue to urgently mobilize human resources, vehicles, materials and equipment to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and restore power to affected customers.

The Central Power Corporation has sent 273 engineers and skilled workers (from 6 power companies including Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai) to Quang Ninh province to support the restoration of the power grid. In addition, more than 100 skilled engineers and workers from the Hanoi Power Corporation have helped restore the power grid in Quang Ninh after Typhoon Yagi.
