Recently, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Hoi An City People's Committee to inspect the landslide situation at Cam An beach, through Tan Thanh block, Cam An ward, Hoi An city.

Specifically, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant sectors and units to inspect and assess the landslide situation at Cam An beach; guide localities to deploy immediate response measures, and at the same time study long-term solutions and measures to ensure safety for people and infrastructure in the area.

Hoi An City People's Committee is responsible for directing relevant Departments, Offices and localities in the city to strengthen monitoring, put up warning signs and demarcate landslide and dangerous areas so that people can proactively respond.

According to the report of Hoi An City People's Committee, in recent days, due to unfavorable weather conditions, Cam An beach section through Tan Thanh block, Cam An ward, has suffered serious erosion.

In particular, the temporary embankment was damaged by waves combined with rising sea water and strong winds, a large amount of sand was washed away. The length of the landslide was about 225m (from the end of the 550m project invested by the Quang Nam Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board to the North); with an average depth of 5-7m, creating a deep trench into the Cam An coast, posing a risk of damaging State and People's property.

In the immediate future, the city government will use sandbag embankments to temporarily block waves to limit landslides. In addition, the People's Committee of Hoi An City has directed the Economic Department and relevant departments to conduct surveys, prepare economic-technical reports and investment documents to submit to competent authorities for consideration and allocation of funds to overcome landslides in this area.

In addition, Hoi An City People's Committee requested the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention of Quang Nam province and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province to inspect and consider advising the Provincial People's Committee to declare an emergency situation regarding landslides at Tan Thanh beach.
