On behalf of the investor, Director of Quang Nam Province Construction Investment Project Management Board - Mr. Vo Van Diem said that Hoi An beach is recognized as the most beautiful in Asia. However, since 2014, this beach has suffered severe erosion, losing its beach and damaging the infrastructure along the shore.

Faced with the urgent need to protect the coastline from the risk of further inland erosion, the province has implemented many construction solutions to overcome the erosion situation, which have initially shown effectiveness. However, due to limited funding, only about 2.3km out of more than 6km of coastline that needs to be protected have been implemented.

The project to prevent erosion and sustainably protect the coast of Hoi An, Quang Nam province, funded by AFD and the EU, after a period of preparation, has now officially entered the implementation phase.

This project is an important step forward in ensuring the future development of Hoi An's coastline through comprehensive solutions, in compliance with the principles of integrated coastal zone management in the region.

The project will protect land, homes, property and people's lives, as well as tourism and resort infrastructure for the entire 3.2 square kilometer land area and more than 1,300 households.

According to Mr. Vo Van Diem, with the joint efforts of donors and partners, especially AFD and EU, and the strong commitments of local authorities towards sustainable development, Quang Nam province will continue to make efforts to effectively utilize mobilized resources to contribute to ensuring sustainable stability for the Hoi An coastal area.
