According to VietNamNet reporters, at the Tao Khe canal embankment area (Mo Dao commune, Que Vo town, Bac Ninh province), about 30m of concrete embankment was eroded, peeled off, broken, and fell into the river and was handled by the construction unit.

The project is under construction, so after discovering a landslide caused by natural disasters, the construction unit mobilized human resources and machinery to fix and clear the flow.

The construction unit has completed the landslide embankment with a new design, suitable for the geology to ensure the safety of the project.

According to the construction unit's assessment, the cause of the landslide at the above location is due to the soft mud geology, the mud layer is deeper than the end of the route.

Although the mud layer was replaced with new soil to construct the embankment, in September 2024, Bac Ninh was affected by a super storm, the head of the embankment connecting with the section constructed by Bac Ninh Construction Joint Stock Company was still just a soil roof.

Due to the sudden increase in drainage water flow, the large flow rate leads to erosion at the junction between the soil roof and the reinforced concrete roof.

Previously, as VietNamNet reported, the project to renovate and upgrade Tao Khe canal ( Chi River embankment - PV ) has been degraded even though it has not been handed over yet.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, directly inspected and directed the urgent repair of the subsidence incident of Tao Khe canal through Mai O village, Mo Dao commune, Que Vo town.

Here, Mr. Loi requested the Bac Ninh Transport and Agriculture Project Management Board to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently deploy solutions to thoroughly handle the subsidence phenomenon.

In particular, focusing on the conditions to start construction of upgrading, renovating, and hardening the Thai Hoa 1 irrigation canal in April. Along with that, it is necessary to conduct surveys, develop plans to adjust the design solutions for the road section with weak soil, and reinforce the embankment system with reinforced concrete piles.

"Before October, the investor will coordinate with Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to carry out simultaneous construction, overcome the water seepage through the road body, ensure the safety of the canal roof after reinforcement, and strive to complete the Tao Khe canal renovation and upgrade project in 2025," Mr. Loi emphasized.

It is known that the project to renovate and upgrade the Tao Khe drainage canal (section from Tram bridge to Chi regulation) is invested by the Bac Ninh Transport and Agriculture Project Management Board. The project started in December 2021, and to date the construction volume has reached about 70%.
