Press conference to introduce the Workshop on General Doan Khue

At the press conference, delegates from news agencies and newspapers listened to Colonel, Dr. Le Thanh Bai, Deputy Director of the Institute of Military History and Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Khanh inform about the preparations for the Ministry of National Defense-level Scientific Conference "General Doan Khue - A staunch communist, an excellent leader and commander of the Vietnam People's Army, an excellent son of Quang Tri homeland" and activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of General Doan Khue's birth.

Accordingly, the Workshop was organized at the Ministry of National Defense level, co-chaired by the Ministry of National Defense and Quang Tri province. The main content of the Workshop is to affirm the revolutionary tradition of Quang Tri, the birthplace of General Doan Khue, a politician and military man, a loyal and outstanding communist of the Party and the Vietnam People's Army. Research and clarify the revolutionary activities of General Doan Khue. Deepen the values and lessons learned from the revolutionary life of General Doan Khue, contributing to fostering patriotism, fostering revolutionary traditions and national pride for generations; applying them to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era.

This is also an occasion to express gratitude and honor the great contributions, morality and revolutionary qualities of General Doan Khue, at the same time arouse national pride; highlight the shining example of personality and talent, along with the sacred feelings that General Doan Khue has devoted to his homeland and country, contributing to the work of educating traditions, building and promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era. Supplement and provide new documents, the great contributions of General Doan Khue to the revolutionary cause of the Party, State and the process of building, fighting and maturing of the Vietnam People's Army.

To prepare for the Workshop, the Military History Institute closely coordinated with the agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, Quang Tri province and Military Region 4, conducted surveys, developed plans; coordinated and carefully and closely implemented all preparation work according to the plan with good quality. Based on the Workshop theme, the Military History Institute built the theme, the system of articles and collected 96 articles (5 framework articles, 89 discussion articles, 2 historical witness opinions). After being edited, 95 of these articles were sent to the People's Army Publishing House to print the proceedings book.

According to the press release, the Workshop will be held on October 27, 2023 in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province. Up to now, the Military History Institute has advised the Steering Committee to closely coordinate with relevant agencies and units to carry out basic preparations in accordance with the requirements and schedule, ensuring the successful organization of the Workshop as planned.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Organizing Committee will have the following activities: visiting and presenting gifts to 5 policy families in Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district; offering incense to General Doan Khue at the Trieu Lang Commune Memorial House, Trieu Phong district; and organizing the 100th anniversary of General Doan Khue's birth.

General Doan Khue was born on October 29, 1923 in Gia Dang village, Trieu Tan commune (now Trieu Lang commune), Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province, alias Vo Tien Trinh, former member of the Politburo, former Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), former Minister of National Defense; a staunch, exemplary Communist; an excellent politician and military man of the Party and the Vietnam People's Army. He fought all his life for the ideals of national independence and socialism, for the happiness of the people.

During 60 years of revolutionary activities, he went through many regions, localities, and battlefields, leaving deep memories in the hearts of our soldiers and people. During the resistance war against France and the resistance war against the US, performing international duties, overcoming countless difficulties and hardships, he and the collective leadership and organization fought at the most difficult and fierce times, both steadfastly holding on to the battlefield and persistently building forces, achieving great victories.
In the cause of national renewal, General Doan Khue has made very worthy contributions, together with the leaders of the Party, the State, the Central Military Party Committee and the Ministry of National Defense, proposing correct policies and organizing the successful implementation of military and defense tasks, building and protecting the socialist Fatherland; taking care to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modernized People's Army, ensuring the fulfillment of its tasks, truly being the core with the entire people in maintaining political security, creating a peaceful and stable environment to successfully carry out the cause of national construction.
