Strengthen training in fire prevention and fighting skills

BHG - In the face of the extremely complicated situation of fire and explosion, in order to raise awareness and ability to respond to emergency situations regarding fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue (PCCC&CNCH), the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police has organized many training courses, propaganda and training on skills and practice on fire fighting and rescue for agencies, units and schools in the whole province.

In recent times, there have been many fires, explosions, accidents, and incidents causing great damage to people and property. At the same time, dry weather also poses the risk of fires, explosions, and accidents that greatly affect fire prevention and fighting in general and forest fire prevention and fighting in particular. In response to this situation, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force has implemented many fire prevention and fighting training programs in localities, focusing on high-risk groups such as business households, officials at administrative agencies, and students.

According to statistics, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has organized more than 220 propaganda, training and dissemination sessions on fire prevention and fighting and rescue laws, attracting nearly 30,000 participants. The training content includes identifying fire and explosion risks, prevention measures, instructions on the use of fire fighting equipment and safe escape skills. In addition, the program also focuses on training in situation handling skills, from the use of on-site fire fighting equipment to safe escape skills.

Recently, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department organized a propaganda, experience, and fire fighting and rescue practice program in the first quarter of 2025 for over 800 people, including students, officials, civil servants, and employees at agencies, units, and people in Ha Giang city. During the experience session, participants had the opportunity to directly practice using fire extinguishers to extinguish burning gas cylinders, operate water jets, and practice escape skills in toxic gas environments. Activities such as practicing self-rescue using a slow-lowering rope ladder not only provided useful knowledge but also created an exciting and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Nguyen Trai ward (Ha Giang city), who participated in the training session, shared: “Before, I never thought I would have to face a fire, but after being instructed on how to handle a leaking gas tank and how to use a fire extinguisher, I feel much more confident. I believe that training sessions like this are really necessary for everyone.”

Having practiced using a portable fire extinguisher to extinguish a simulated fire, student Nong Quoc Khanh, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Ha Giang said: “I find the propaganda, experience, and practice of fire prevention and fighting and rescue very effective. These training sessions help me and my fellow students gain more skills in handling fire and explosion situations, escaping when an incident occurs, as well as proficiently using on-site fire fighting equipment. More importantly, I understand the necessity of fire prevention from the beginning and will strictly follow fire prevention regulations at schools, public places, and residential areas.”

The training programs have contributed to raising awareness and fire prevention skills for the community. Many residents and students have proactively implemented safety measures such as checking electrical systems, equipping fire extinguishers at home and implementing preventive measures as recommended by authorities. However, there are still some challenges such as mountainous terrain that makes fire fighting difficult, and inadequate investment in fire prevention systems in markets and rural areas.

In the coming time, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department will continue to implement more extensive training programs, especially in mountainous, remote and isolated areas. Innovate the content and form of propaganda from theory to practical activities to attract more people to participate. Improve professional skills for specialized and part-time cadres to carry out propaganda work and build a mass movement for fire prevention and rescue, meeting the requirements of the assigned tasks. Thereby raising the awareness of each person in fire prevention and rescue work, contributing to ensuring the safety of life and property.
