Speaking at an international press conference after the closing of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), assessed that the conference had broken many records.
On the afternoon of September 16, the Organizing Committee of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held an international press conference to announce the results of the conference. The press conference was chaired by Mr. Duarte Pacheco, President of the IPU; Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the IPU; and Mr. Dan Carden, President of the Global Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Mr. Vu Hai Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Young Parliamentarians' Group of the 15th National Assembly, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference; and Mr. Pham Thai Ha, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office.
The press conference was attended by more than 100 reporters from nearly 90 domestic and international news agencies.
Many record numbers
At the press conference, Mr. Vu Hai Ha informed that the conference had achieved many record numbers, such as 300 international delegates, including more than 200 parliamentarians in the IPU. The conference also made its mark by issuing a conference statement for the first time with many important contents, not only solving "hot" issues of countries but also solving global challenges.
“The 9th Global Young Parliamentarians’ Conference was a great success. The opening and closing ceremonies, as well as thematic discussions were lively, with many delegates registering to speak; the discussion content was rich, diverse, and profound, with many initiatives proposed to promote digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and innovation to promote the implementation of sustainable development goals,” said Mr. Ha.
Mr. Vu Hai Ha said the conference achieved many record numbers.

Mr. Ha also said that the IPU President, IPU Secretary General and the participating delegations all highly appreciated the organization and the warm and enthusiastic reception of the host country Vietnam, saying that this was the largest and most professional Young Parliamentarians' Conference ever organized.
"The conference adopted a Declaration on the role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation. This is the first time a global conference of young parliamentarians has issued a conference declaration," Mr. Ha emphasized.
According to Mr. Ha, on the occasion of the conference, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received many international delegations. At the meetings, the delegations highly appreciated the organization of the conference and thanked the host country Vietnam for its thoughtful, warm and hospitable reception.
The delegations also exchanged operational experiences and proposed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation as well as coordination and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums; wished to promote exchanges and cooperation between young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians and increase the participation of young people and young parliamentarians in global issues.

"Vietnam has done an extremely good job of organizing"
Responding to a reporter’s question about his assessment of the conference’s organization, Mr. Duarte Pacheco said that these were wonderful experiences. “Vietnam did a very good job of organizing the conference, contributing to the success of the conference,” Mr. Duarte Pacheco said.
Commenting on the conference results, Mr. Martin Chungong said that the results far exceeded expectations, breaking many records. Mr. Martin Chungong highly appreciated Vietnam's hospitality and professional organization and announced the conference with many specific solutions to promote the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation.
Mr Martin Chungong also pledged to push his member parliaments to implement the joint declaration on innovation and youth empowerment.

Discussing further about the outstanding results of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said that the conference had more highlights than the previous 8 sessions. In particular, the highlight was the extremely meaningful sideline activities such as the discussion on enhancing digital capacity for young people and the Vietnam Aspiration exhibition, cultural exchanges between the host country and the delegations...
“Logistics were well organized, many delegates thanked the host country. The IPU President highly appreciated the preparations, the warm, hospitable and generous reception of Vietnam. That was one of the factors contributing to the overall success of the conference,” Mr. Tuan shared.
