“ I trembled when I read the news about three people who died because a child twisted the throttle of a motorbike. Last year, my family was also shocked when our 6-year-old daughter did the same thing, but luckily her grandfather was able to brake and stop the motorbike in time, ” Ms. P. Thai (Nam Dinh) shared with tears in her eyes.
Previously, Ms. Thai had a habit of letting her child stand on the footrest of the scooter because "it's more comfortable for her to stand". However, one time, while her mother went into the house to get something, the 6-year-old girl accidentally touched the throttle. Luckily, her grandfather was able to brake in time so there was no injury. After that, Ms. Thai never dared to let her child stand in front of or sit on the motorbike when her mother got off.

She added: "There is no habit that cannot be given up. Parents need to put their children's safety first. Children are not aware of the danger, just a little carelessness and it will be too late to regret."
Ms. T. Thien (Ha Tinh) confided that every morning she takes her 5th grader to school, while her husband takes the 4-year-old to kindergarten. Her husband often has the habit of letting the child sit in front, and the two of them talk while walking. Ms. Thien is very upset, and the couple often quarrel because of this habit.
“ Talking too much becomes talking too much, but not saying anything is a must. Letting the child sit in front of the driver of a motorbike like that is very dangerous, and it is also dusty, sunny and windy. Once, he (Ms. Thien's husband) went to the gate but forgot something at home so he left the child sitting on the motorbike alone," said the parent of two children .
Thien and her husband once had a "cold war" for a whole week just because of this argument. Every time she mentioned the above topic, her husband brushed it off. He affirmed that men's driving skills were steady, so there was no need to worry about accidents happening.
Ms. Thien said that although nothing has happened yet, it is better to be careful. Most child accidents often stem from the subjective awareness of adults.
To ensure children's safety, doctors recommend that when letting children participate in traffic, parents drive at a moderate, steady speed, and wear a secure seat belt for younger children. For children 1-2 years old, it is safest to let the child sit between 2 adults.
Parents should never let their children sit in front of the driver of a motorbike. When getting off the motorbike, turn off the engine and let the child get off. Because when a child is on the motorbike, two situations can happen: the motorbike can fall on them or if the motorbike is running, the child accidentally touches the throttle causing an accident.
Previously, VTC News reported that at around 8:00 a.m. on May 26, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thom (26 years old, residing in village 9, My Thang commune) drove an Air blade scooter, carrying behind her Ms. Huynh Thi Rang (53 years old, Ms. Thom's mother-in-law) and two children: Tran Nguyen Hoang Yen (4 years old), Tran Nguyen Tuan Kiet (1 year old) to go to the doctor.
Arriving at Mr. Nguyen Sum's house (Ms. Thom's biological father) in Hamlet 8 Tay, My Thang Commune, Ms. Thom stopped her motorbike to leave Yen. While getting off the motorbike, Yen accidentally turned the throttle, causing the motorbike to crash into the cement fence of a nearby house.
The strong collision killed Mrs. Rang, Kiet, and Yen. Ms. Thom was seriously injured and is being treated at Binh Dinh General Hospital.
