Linking production and consumption of agricultural products
Long Tan Melon Cooperative (Long Dat district) came into operation at the end of 2021 with 8 members who are households growing melons in greenhouses in Long Tan commune. Mr. Truong Van Hau, Director of Long Tan Melon Cooperative, said that after 4 years of applying high technology in agricultural production, the Cooperative has now expanded its links with 16 farming households from production to consumption of melons to increase the value of agricultural products and increase income for cooperative members. In addition, the Cooperative also cooperates with enterprises to provide seeds and organic fertilizers to members at prices lower than the market, thereby reducing production costs.
Each year, Long Tan Melon Cooperative produces 4 crops, with a yield of about 3.5 tons of melons/crop/1,000m2 greenhouse; creating regular jobs for 30 workers, with an income of 10-15 million VND/person/month.
In Chau Duc district, although Ba Ria-Vung Tau Agricultural Service Trading Cooperative has only been in operation since May 2023, it has effectively implemented a model of linking with farmers and enterprises to build raw material areas, purchase fresh cocoa fruits and fermented dried cocoa beans. The Cooperative currently has 3 products: pure cocoa powder, dark chocolate and 3-in-1 cocoa powder that have been recognized as 4-star OCOP.
Mr. Than Xuan Dong, Vice Chairman of the District Farmers' Association, said that the locality has many effective agricultural cooperatives, notably the Ba Ria-Vung Tau High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, with 2 products achieving 4-star OCOP (Cordyceps tea, Cordyceps cereal) and 1 product achieving 3-star (Cordyceps BHA wine); Ba Ria-Vung Tau Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative is linking with 76 farming households to participate in the production chain of 116 hectares of cocoa and cooperatives raising eels, raising eels, raising stingless bees, producing melons, growing durian for export, etc.
Currently, these cooperatives have linked with enterprises to provide input materials at competitive prices and ensure quality, and at the same time signed contracts to link and consume output products for members.
Improving the quality of agricultural cooperatives
The province has 113 agricultural cooperatives and 1 cooperative union; creating jobs for 2,318 workers in rural areas. In 2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association aims to attract 5% more farmer households to participate in collective economic organizations in agriculture; support at least 10% of professional Farmers' Association branches and groups to develop into cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives. The Association also encourages, mobilizes, and guides good farmer households in production and business, excellent farmers to be the core and nucleus to establish cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives; coordinates with departments, branches, and the Provincial Cooperative Union to support vocational training to improve the quality of human resources, build brands, and promote digital transformation in production and distribution of goods.
To consolidate and improve the quality and efficiency of agricultural cooperatives and cooperative groups, the Provincial Farmers' Association focuses on reviewing and creating favorable conditions for cooperative economic organizations to access preferential credit sources, support policies on science and technology; marketing skills and market research, tax policies; building OCOP products, participating in trade promotion, helping enterprises, cooperatives, and cooperative groups increase their competitiveness in the market, meeting the linkage requirements of partners.
“Developing and replicating collective economic models, linked to production linkages along the value chain, is an important task in innovating the content and methods of operation of the association. “Supporting members to participate in cooperatives and cooperatives contributes to building a sustainable agricultural development. The Provincial Farmers’ Association will always accompany farmers on the journey to increase product value, improve life and develop the rural economy,” said Chairman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association Mai Minh Quang.
