Coach Troussier calls up overseas Vietnamese players to join U23 Vietnam

In the list of 25 players called up for the June training camp, Coach Troussier included Vietnamese-American player Nguyen An Khanh. According to information from VFF, Coach Troussier personally recommended An Khanh to the Vietnam Football Federation. An Khanh is 18 years old this year and is playing for the U19 Sigma Olomouc Club of the Czech Republic.

Nguyen An Khanh's preferred position is central midfielder, with an attacking orientation. At the same time, An Khanh can play well as a striker as well as a left winger. An Khanh is a regular in the U19 Sigma Olomouc starting lineup and has played many times for the club's B team in the Czech Republic First Division. Up to this point in the season, An Khanh has scored 7 goals and provided 20 assists for his teammates. Currently, An Khanh is also a member of the U18 Czech Republic.

During this training session, coach Troussier also created opportunities for many new faces to try out, such as goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, defender Nguyen Duc Anh, midfielder Hoang Van Toan, and striker Vo Nguyen Hoang.

Van Viet has made his mark in SLNA's recent matches. Center back Duc Anh is a member of the Vietnam U20 team at the 2023 AFC U20 Championship. Meanwhile, Van Toan and Van Hoang participated in the 2022 Southeast Asian U22 Championship.

The rest are mostly familiar names who have just participated in the 32nd SEA Games. The U23 Vietnam team will train in parallel with the Vietnam national team. According to the original plan, the team will participate in the Panda Cup in China. However, the tournament was canceled at the last minute due to stadium issues and will be postponed to another suitable time.

The team will gather in Hanoi from June 5. U23 Vietnam will play a friendly match with Hanoi Police Club on June 14 at PVF Center and a match with Hai Phong Club on June 17 at Lach Tray Stadium. This is an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the quality of the players, aiming for important goals in the coming time.
