Preparing for the match against Iraq at 6:30 p.m. on January 24, the Vietnamese team had a physical training session on the morning of January 21 in the hotel gym. The whole team tried to regenerate positive energy and determined to achieve the best result against Iraq before saying goodbye to the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
In this training session, the most notable was the return of striker Dinh Bac after a muscle injury that forced him to miss the match against Indonesia. The 19-year-old striker played impressively in the match against Japan but unfortunately had to be a spectator in the important match against Indonesia.

With the return of Dinh Bac, Coach Troussier has more options for the Vietnamese team's attack in the match against Iraq at the end of the group stage. However, the French strategist is still worried when two players Tuan Hai and Van Tung are injured, leaving open the possibility of playing in the upcoming match.
After two matches in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup, Iraq is firmly in the top spot after winning the direct confrontation with Indonesia and Japan. Due to losing to Japan and Indonesia, the Vietnamese team no longer has a chance to compete for a ticket to the next round, even if they beat Iraq with any score. The final match of the group stage between the Vietnamese team and the Iraqi team is therefore just a formality.
But with the spirit of never giving up and always trying their best for the country, coach Philippe Troussier and his team still prepared for the match with seriousness and high determination.

Coach Troussier and his team understand that if they cannot overcome difficult times and bravely face the surrounding pressure and persevere with their choice, it will be difficult to expect better results in the future.
As for coach Philippe Troussier, he constantly gave his students words of encouragement and motivation. The French coach said that even though he is 70 years old and has almost everything, he still keeps himself motivated to continue working and devotes himself to contributing to Vietnamese football every day.
Therefore, Coach Troussier hopes that the players who are in the most energetic stage of their lives will continue to strive in all circumstances, first to develop themselves, then to turn their aspirations and ambitions into reality, because there is no easy path to glory.

According to coach Troussier, the team's goal is to achieve the best result against Iraq, thereby not only demonstrating the "golden star warriors' unyielding spirit", but also creating motivation for the journey ahead, including the rematch against Indonesia and Iraq in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, in March and June respectively.
