Coach Patrick Kluivert had an unsatisfactory debut. |
"We need to work again. The match against Bahrain is ahead, and we are trying to achieve a good result. But first, we need to learn deeply from this defeat," Kluivert shared.
The Dutch coach affirmed: "Once again, I am very pleased with the work ethic and attitude of the players. However, when you concede a goal because of an individual mistake, we need to improve, and that is all we need to do."
In the 7th match of Group C, the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, the Indonesian team suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 1-5 against Australia. This heavy defeat put Kluivert under great pressure.
There are growing doubts about his ability to lead the team. Indonesia's next match is against Bahrain in the eighth round, taking place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on March 25. Victory has now become a must for Kluivert.
If he fails to achieve the desired results, the Dutch strategist may face the worst consequences in the race for a ticket to the 2026 World Cup. Kluivert admitted that he needs to restore confidence in the Indonesian players after the heavy defeat.
He is also well aware that Bahrain are not an easy opponent. "Yes, it will be a very difficult match for sure. The most important thing now is to help the players regain their spirit and positive energy," Kluivert stressed.
"Because, as I said, we started the game against Australia quite well. We followed our plan and everything went well. Unfortunately we couldn't maintain our form, it's a pity," he affirmed.
