Hai Phong defender sent off for hitting Binh Duong player

Binh Duong Pham Manh Hung's red card ended all of Hai Phong's efforts to gain points, causing them to lose 0-1 to host Binh Duong in round three of V-League 2023-2024.

This is Hai Phong's first red card in the 2023-2024 season and the second red card of the entire tournament. Previously, midfielder Doan Ngoc Ha of Thanh Hoa received a direct red card in the 1-1 draw with Viettel in the second round.

With 10 men, Hai Phong could not score in the remaining time, accepting a 0-1 loss at Binh Duong Stadium on the evening of November 4. The only goal was a masterpiece scored by Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong in the 57th minute. From a cross from Domiama Ibara on the right wing, the 22-year-old striker jumped up and hooked the ball to score.

Binh Duong today is missing their number one central defenders, as Que Ngoc Hai is injured and Janclesio is suspended. Coach Le Huynh Duc also put striker Tien Linh on the bench. The home team did not control the ball much, but had many good chances.

The away team also regretted hitting the goalpost twice. In the 31st minute, Dam Tien Dung shot from about 22 meters from the left wing and hit the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Bicou Bissainthe curled the ball with his right foot outside the penalty area and hit the post. Goalkeeper Tran Minh Toan also made two excellent reflexes to deny shots from Lucao Vinicius and Joseph Mpande.

This result helps Binh Duong win all two matches in V-League 2023-2024. Their match against Hanoi in round one will be made up on November 24. The team is currently in third place with six points, one and three points behind Hanoi Police and Nam Dinh respectively. Hai Phong is in fifth place with four points.
