On the morning of September 1, to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day September 2 and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Hanoi Department of Tourism in coordination with the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club organized the program "Ao Dai connecting Tourism with Hanoi Heritage in 2024".
Accordingly, parade participants will wear traditional ao dai and ride bicycles starting from Thang Long Imperial Citadel, through the ancient streets and historical sites - heritage works of Hanoi.
Each basket was already decorated with a red flag with a yellow star. In addition, some participants also brought flowers to decorate their vehicles.
The group of 150 men and women wearing traditional Ao Dai will go through the streets with many tourist attractions in Hanoi such as: Hoang Dieu - Dien Bien Phu - Doc Lap (Ba Dinh Square) - Hoang Van Thu - Hung Vuong - Phan Dinh Phung - Hang Dau - Long Bien Bridge - Tran Nhat Duat - O Quan Chuong - Hang Chieu - Dong Xuan - Hang Giay - Hang Than - Quan Thanh - Cua Bac - Nguyen Tri Phuong - Dien Bien Phu (Hanoi Flagpole)...

The parade went on Doc Lap Street, passing in front of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and the National Assembly building.
Ms. Stella Ciorra, President of the Friends of Vietnam Heritage Association (wearing a red ao dai) shared: “I am very proud to wear the traditional Vietnamese ao dai. I am a person who loves and is passionate about exploring Vietnam's heritage. This journey will definitely give me a new perspective and an interesting experience.”
Cyclists lined up in a long line on Phan Dinh Phung Street, one of the most beautiful streets in Hanoi. Everyone was excited and radiant throughout the 12.5 km journey.
The convoy moved past Hang Dau water tower (Ba Dinh district).
The event aims to recreate the beauty of elegant Trang An people, through a series of heritage connecting actions.
Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu (in blue ao dai) excitedly joined the crowd of cyclists on Long Bien bridge.
Mr. Tran Trung Hieu said: “Through this activity, we want to introduce a new tourism product to domestic and international visitors. Thereby, we can exploit the potential of heritage to promote tourism development.”
Long Bien Station was established over 100 years ago. This is a familiar structure to Hanoi people and is also located on the route the convoy passes through.
From Tran Nhat Duat street, the traffic turns into O Quan Chuong, going through the old quarter.
At 8am, the parade ended at the final stop, Hanoi Flag Tower. This is an annual activity of Hanoi tourism industry on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd, honoring the elegant and civilized beauty with green means of transport to protect the environment and attract tourists to Hanoi.
