To complete this important task, from the beginning of the year, Lang Son Customs Department has developed a plan and synchronously deployed implementation solutions. Emphasizing the reason for the increase in revenue, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh said that the above results were recorded in a positive direction due to the increase in the number of import-export declarations at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. In addition, import-export activities on the days before the Lunar New Year 2024 took place bustlingly, the volume of goods increased dramatically, goods management policies were stable, and traffic between Vietnam and China was convenient and stable.
However, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh said that although the revenue results in the first quarter of 2024 were quite good, the completion of the assigned targets for 2024 still faced many difficulties. In particular, what made the leaders of Lang Son Customs Department concerned was the production and business activities of enterprises across the country in general and especially enterprises in Lang Son province (mainly small enterprises) whose import activities are commercial services, which are often ineffective. On the other hand, the revenue in the area is unstable, depending on China's border trade policy and some items such as cars, machinery, equipment, etc., along with the reduction of tariffs on some groups of goods, will have a significant impact.
Giving specific instructions on the tasks of Lang Son Customs Department, at the working session held on the afternoon of March 20, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs Hoang Viet Cuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the results in the collection of state budget that Lang Son Customs has achieved in the first months of the year.
However, to ensure effective implementation of the task, Deputy Director General Hoang Viet Cuong requested Lang Son Customs Department to assess the situation and specifically analyze the causes of revenue increases and decreases each month and each quarter. In addition, Lang Son Customs needs to strengthen the fight against revenue loss through inspection and supervision of customs procedures, tax management, post-clearance inspection, specialized inspection, internal inspection, early detection and timely prevention of violations, causes of tax shortages and tax losses. In particular, focusing on reviewing, inspecting and detecting violations in the field of goods classification, determining the value and origin of goods, thereby collecting and determining taxes, contributing to increasing revenue.
Deputy Director General Hoang Viet Cuong also said that, in parallel with the tasks, Lang Son Customs must set the goal of synchronously implementing solutions to collect state budget revenue by strengthening administrative procedure reform, modernizing customs work, shortening the time for goods clearance. Implementing the construction of Digital Customs, Smart Customs model, improving the efficiency of state management of customs according to the set plan.
At the same time, fight against smuggling and trade fraud, proactively review, classify, collect and handle tax debts arising before January 1, 2024, and prevent new debts from arising through inspection and examination.
