Based on weather forecasts and fishing grounds, coastal localities in Ha Tinh strive to achieve an output of about 17,500 tons of aquatic products exploited in the Northern fishing season in 2023-2024, estimated at 900 billion VND.
The Northern fishing season takes place from October 2023 to March 2024. According to fishermen's experience, the resources appearing in this season are mainly species such as: anchovies, mollusks, mackerel, croaker, sardines, shrimp, shrimp... Floating fish species appear in high density, creating motivation for fishermen to go offshore.
Ha Tinh strives to exploit 17,500 tons of seafood in the Northern fishing season.
At this time, the specialized sector continues to closely follow the base, regularly monitor the developments of fishing grounds, weather and climate conditions... to advise and direct localities to guide fishermen to organize fishing to achieve good results. At the same time, learn and grasp some models of aquaculture production with high economic efficiency of other provinces to learn from experience and apply them in the area.
The functional sector also strengthens State management activities on aquatic resource exploitation; strictly handles violations of the use of electric pulses, explosives, and toxic substances for aquatic resource exploitation and prevents illegal aquatic resource exploitation in the province.
According to the Ha Tinh Fisheries Department, in this Northern fishing season, localities aim to exploit about 17,500 tons of aquatic products, estimated to be worth 900 billion VND. Of which: marine exploitation output is 15,500 tons (including 10,000 tons of fish, 500 tons of shrimp and 5,000 tons of other aquatic products); inland exploitation output is 2,000 tons (including 1,000 tons of fish, 200 tons of shrimp and 800 tons of other aquatic products).

Ha Tinh currently has 2,743 registered fishing vessels. Of these, the fleet operating in the offshore area (with length from 12m to under 15m) is 412 vessels and the fleet operating in the offshore area (with length from 15m and above) is 93 vessels. The fleet operating in the offshore area mainly engages in fishing with hooks, nets, nets, purse seines, cage traps, and squid traps and is the fleet that contributes the majority of the province's aquatic product output. The remaining 2,238 are fishing vessels less than 12m in length, mainly engaged in trawling and fishing, operating in coastal waters in the province. |
