The Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) plans to announce the 10th grade enrollment quota of each school in April 2025.
The whole city has about more than 100,000 students studying in grade 9. Like every year, about more than 60% of them will be admitted to public high schools, the rest will be admitted to private schools, vocational education centers - continuing education.
From now until the announcement of the enrollment quota for grade 10 of each school, the Department of Education and Training will establish delegations to directly inspect each unit and school on the conditions for organizing grade 10 enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, this year, the Department will pay special attention to reviewing the preparation and monitoring of enrollment at private schools.
Private schools must build an online admissions portal; commit to and strictly implement online admissions within the prescribed time. This helps ensure transparency and fairness in admissions, while avoiding the phenomenon of parents having to queue up to submit applications directly at the school.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will consider the number of enrollment quotas of each school based on the actual situation and capacity to meet the requirements. It is determined not to assign enrollment quotas to schools that have not met operating conditions, including the mandatory condition of online enrollment.
In addition, the Department will also consider not assigning quotas to schools that have not completed the legal basis for operating locations; have not ensured the school network planning as committed; have not met fire prevention and fighting requirements according to the conclusion of competent authorities; have disputes and complaints during the teaching and learning process; and do not ensure the minimum teaching equipment as prescribed.
It is expected that the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year will take place in June 2025. After the City People's Committee approves the 10th grade entrance exam plan, the Department will specifically announce the third exam subject this February.
