After a period of actively implementing Project 6 on "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas (DTTS&MN) in Quang Tri province, up to now, the project has contributed to arousing the love of preserving and promoting the unique cultural values of the nation, improving the spiritual life of the people.

Based on the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People's Committees of the districts have issued plans to implement Project 6 in the whole province in accordance with the actual situation, implemented according to the decentralization viewpoint and maximum authority given to the locality. For the contents that can be implemented by the grassroots, 100% will be assigned to the grassroots, new contents, of inter-regional and inter-sectoral nature, will be implemented by the province.
With the goal and practical meaning of contributing to the preservation of the good traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, the project received the participation of all levels, sectors, localities and the high consensus and response of the people. Since then, many activities on collecting and documenting traditional cultural heritage have been carried out. Cultural institutions in ethnic minority areas, remote and isolated areas have been invested in construction, upgrading, and repairing in the direction of standardization, equipment inside cultural houses has been provided, and the organization of activities has initially been innovated and promoted effectively.
The training of cultural and artistic workers in ethnic minority and remote areas has been focused on. Some cultural heritages of ethnic minority areas have been honored. Traditional art troupes in ethnic minority and mountainous villages have been established and are actively organized to perform on festivals, political, cultural and social events of the localities. Traditional craft villages of Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups have been restored and preserved... contributing to the preservation of traditional cultural values and the promotion of local tourism development.
As the unit assigned to preside over the implementation of Project 6, to improve knowledge and skills in preserving and promoting national cultural identity for artisans and traditional cultural cores, from 2021-2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized 4 professional training courses in ethnic minority areas with 120 participants. Supported activities for 2 traditional art troupes of A Bung commune, Ta Rut commune, Dakrong district with a total budget of 150 million VND.
Develop content and publish 2 documentary films on traditional culture of ethnic minorities with the content: The rice journey of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic minorities. Participate in the 3rd Vietnam - Laos Border Cultural, Sports and Tourism Exchange Festival in Dien Bien province, the Central Ethnic Culture Festival in Binh Dinh province in 2023 with the participation of 30 ethnic minority artisans and extras.
Provide equipment support to 7 villages of Ta Rut commune with a total cost of 210 million VND. Support the construction of 25 community bookcases for communes in ethnic minority areas. Conduct inventory and survey of ethnic minority cultural values in localities in the province.
The department is currently implementing support for propaganda and widely promoting the typical traditional culture of ethnic minorities, tourism promotion programs; building 2 propaganda panels to promote mountainous tourism and ethnic minorities in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts. In addition, coordinating with the People's Committees of Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts to organize the first and second sports competitions of ethnic minorities in Quang Tri province. Completing a travelogue column on mountainous tourism.
In localities with ethnic minorities such as Huong Hoa, Dakrong, Vinh Linh, Gio Linh and Cam Lo, the implementation of Project 6 has also brought about many remarkable results. Typically, in Huong Hoa, the locality organized the restoration of the New Rice Festival of the Van Kieu people in Chenh Venh village, Huong Phung commune and the New Rice Festival of the Pa Ko people in Lia commune; built 6 folk culture clubs; completed the inventory, collection and documentation of the cultural heritage of folk songs, folk dances and folk music of ethnic minorities...
Localities have good and creative ways of doing things such as: paying attention to organizing many training courses, fostering expertise and skills, teaching intangible culture; promoting tourism and cultural identity of ethnic groups; supporting investment in building cultural and sports institutions and equipment for villages in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Organizing festivals, exchanges, and celebrations of traditional cultural and artistic forms of ethnic minorities. Supporting ethnic minorities to establish practical models of activities such as gong clubs, folk art clubs, etc., supporting costumes and musical instruments to restore and preserve traditional cultural values. Supporting community bookcases to serve the reading needs of people in ethnic minority areas... Through the above activities, the work of preserving, conserving and promoting the cultural quintessence of ethnic minorities in Quang Tri has made new developments in both scale and depth.
Although the implementation process still encountered many difficulties and obstacles, with the efforts of Party committees at all levels, authorities, agencies, units, localities and the active participation of people in the project area, Project 6 has contributed to promoting the movement to preserve and promote unique cultural values in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, it has contributed to promoting typical intangible cultural heritages of localities, creating momentum for sustainable tourism development in Quang Tri.
