Google Vietnam honors Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage – Screenshot
Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province was twice recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage in 1994 and 2000.
On September 16, 2023, this complex and Cat Ba archipelago (Hai Phong) were once again recognized as World Natural Heritage. This is the first dual World Natural Heritage in Vietnam.
Regarding the meaning of putting Ha Long Bay on this doodle, Google said it is aimed at celebrating the 30th anniversary of Ha Long Bay being recognized as a world natural heritage (2024).
In addition, December 17, 1994 was the first day Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage.
Besides its natural values, Ha Long Bay is also a tourist attraction with great appeal to domestic and international tourists, attracting millions of visitors each year, contributing greatly to the local and Vietnamese economy.

Ha Long Bay is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site because it has natural limestone islands formed over millions of years, covered with vegetation.
In 1994, for the first time, UNESCO ranked Ha Long Bay as a World Natural Heritage among the 10 officially recognized World Cultural Heritages.
On November 11, 2011, Ha Long Bay was recognized by the New7wonders Organization as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, sharing the same ranking with other famous landmarks such as: Amazon forest (Brazil), Jeju island (Korea), Table Mountain (South Africa)...
Ha Long Bay is a small bay on the western coast of the Gulf of Tonkin, including the island sea area of Ha Long city, Cam Pha town and part of Van Don island district, Quang Ninh province.
Ha Long Bay includes 1,969 large and small islands, of which 989 are named islands and 980 are unnamed islands, with an area of 1,553km² including the core zone and buffer zone.
The world-recognized heritage area of Ha Long Bay covers an area of 434km², shaped like a triangle with three peaks: Dau Go Island (west), Ba Ham Lake (south) and Cong Tay Island (east), including 775 islands with many caves and beaches.
Ha Long Bay has been voted by many world rankings as a unique and valuable geological wonder.
