In An Minh district (Kien Giang), there is a young English teacher, Nguyen Minh Dau, who temporarily put aside his career to join the army.

On February 11, Mr. Nguyen Minh Dau, residing in Thuan Hoa commune, An Minh district, Kien Giang province, said he was preparing to leave for military service .
Mr. Dau, 25 years old, is currently an English teacher at Au Co Primary School, Rach Gia City. In early 2025, Mr. Dau wrote an application to volunteer for military service and temporarily stopped working at the school to fulfill his duty to the Fatherland.
"This is also an opportunity for me to train myself. The training process in the military will help me learn more life skills, build resilience, willpower and solidarity.
This action also demonstrates the responsibility of young people towards the Fatherland, family and society," said Mr. Dau.

Talking about the young teacher's work, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tinh - Chairman of Thuan Hoa Commune People's Committee - shared: "This is a very proud action of the youth, demonstrating the spirit of self-awareness, awareness and responsibility of the youth towards their homeland and country.
I acknowledge and commend the young people who have pioneered in writing applications to volunteer for military service in 2025."
In 2025, the Military Command of Kien Giang province assigned An Minh district to select 137 young men to join the army. The young men will gather at the People's Committees of communes and towns on February 11 so that the localities can bring them to the district on February 12 to participate in military camp activities.
The military handover ceremony will take place on the morning of February 13. After that, the troops will be transferred to units including the Provincial Military Command, Navy Region 5 and Provincial Border Guard Command...
