The Chinese Embassy in Canada, the host of the G7 foreign ministers meeting that ended on March 14, accused the group of "blatantly smearing" China and "grossly" interfering in its internal affairs.

In a statement on "maritime security and prosperity," G7 diplomats accused Beijing of "seeking to unilaterally change the status quo in ways that risk regional stability, including through land reclamation and construction of outposts and their use for military purposes," and of "illegal, provocative, coercive and dangerous actions" in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.
In response, the Chinese Embassy in Canada stated: "The statements are full of arrogance, prejudice and malice, aimed at suppressing and attacking China. China strongly opposes this and has lodged stern representations with the Canadian side... China firmly defends its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, and resolutely opposes the G7's wrongful actions that infringe upon China's sovereignty." The Chinese Embassy in Canada also called on the G7 to "abandon the Cold War mentality and stop creating factional confrontation and provoking regional tensions."
According to the Embassy, Taiwan's (China) participation in international organizations "must and can only be handled according to the One China principle".
The Chinese embassy also accused G7 members of "politicizing and weaponizing economic and trade issues" and "undermining the international economic order", saying they should "reflect on themselves".
Regarding the G7's accusations that China supplies weapons to Russia, the embassy rejected them and stated that the group "has no right to blame China" because the country "is neither the creator nor a participant in the Ukrainian crisis... and Beijing has never supplied weapons to any party in the conflict".
"The G7 has no right to criticize other countries on the issue of nuclear arms control. China rejects the G7's unreasonable accusations," the embassy added, asserting that China's nuclear arsenal is "at the minimum level necessary for national security" and that Beijing has no intention of participating in an arms race.
The Chinese Embassy concluded: "Suppression and attacks on China are not a 'panacea' to resolve internal disagreements within the G7", in the context of internal conflicts among G7 countries from US President Donald Trump's tariff war.
After weeks of tension and heated debate, the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting has reached agreement on a joint statement, highlighting the Ukraine conflict and other key geopolitical issues.
The G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in the tourist town of La Malbaie, in the mountains of Quebec, Canada, with the participation of ministers from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US and the European Union (EU).
This is the first important meeting of Canada's G7 presidency, taking place amid tensions between allies and the administration of US President Donald Trump over trade, security and Ukraine policy.
