Sharing at the seminar Vietnam Private Economy: Breakthrough period 2025-2030 organized by VITV Channel in Hanoi on March 15, many businesses said that they are going through a very difficult period due to external factors.
Businesses worry about the world changing rapidly
Mr. Pham Dinh Doan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phu Thai Group - said that the business community is "in a panic" when all the changes are happening too fast and terribly. Therefore, if a business is slow for one day, it can lose many opportunities, forcing businesses to think every day and every hour.
"We need breakthroughs, acceleration and cooperation. This is a new game and competition, not only do we have to cooperate with each other but we also need to do business seriously, systematically, and export more abroad when Vietnamese enterprises are entering a larger environment. To survive, we must integrate into the international environment" - Mr. Doan said.
As evidence of the rapid changes taking place, Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh - Vice President of the European Business Association in Vietnam - said: The European Union (EU) continuously has new policies issued in a short period of time related to green transition.
This not only has a huge impact on the global market but also on governments and the business sector.
This is a challenge for businesses when implementing environmental and sustainability (ESG) factors. However, if businesses are determined to overcome the initial challenges, the opportunities for businesses will be huge.
Mr. Pham Quang Vinh - former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the US - pointed out that recent fluctuations have created extremely large shocks, especially the story of the epidemic and the war in Ukraine.
Reality requires the world economy to reshape, the world economy is still interdependent, but if broken, it will be very difficult for countries to adapt.
Adaptation also requires proactivity, requiring all parties to make efforts to cope in order to be sustainable.
Implementing private support policies
In this context, experts believe that the recent view that the private sector is the most important driving force for economic growth is very encouraging. According to Mr. Hoang Van Cuong - National Assembly delegate, since 2006, the private sector has been mentioned as an important driving force for economic growth.
However, up to now, the private economic sector has only been recognized as the "most important driving force of the economy". Therefore, taking specific actions to create favorable conditions for the development of the private economic sector will be of great significance.
Specifically, in the past, the private sector hardly participated in public sector investment, but at present, the private sector has been heavily involved in public investment through government orders for private corporations.
"This is a positive point, because world experience shows that in countries with developed private economies, most of the governments have to "place orders" for the private economy," said Mr. Cuong.
At the same time, the Prime Minister is aiming to cut 30% of unnecessary administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for the development of the private economic sector. Therefore, this is the time for the private economic sector and private enterprises to stand up and take action to make a breakthrough.
