SJC gold and gold ring prices fluctuate strongly

Last week, the domestic and foreign gold markets fluctuated unpredictably.

On July 21 (Sunday), although SJC Company and commercial banks (Vietcombank, Agribank, BIDV, VietinBank) closed their trading floors, other companies such as PNJ, DOJI, Mi Hong, and Bao Tin Minh Chau were still open to buy and sell gold.

The buying and selling price of SJC gold by these businesses remains unchanged at 78.5 - 80 million VND/tael. The buying price of gold rings is 75.7 million VND/tael and the selling price is 77.1 million VND/tael.

Thus, after 1 week of trading, compared to the price of the first day of the week (July 15) of 76.98 million VND/tael, the selling price of SJC gold bars has increased by more than 3 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings at one point reached 77.6 million VND/tael, then dropped to 77.1 million VND/tael.

Business people commented that the increase in SJC gold price occurred in the context of the world gold price during the week setting a new record of 2,484 USD/ounce. The price of gold rings only decreased slightly even though the world gold price decreased by tens of USD/ounce.

At the end of the weekend trading session, the world gold price dropped to 2,400 USD/ounce, equivalent to 75.3 million VND/tael, about 4.5 million VND/tael lower than the SJC gold price.
