Gold price today increased very strongly
Early on March 29, the price of gold today closed the weekend at 3,085 USD/ounce to set a new record. Thus, compared to the opening price of 3,055 USD the previous day, the price of gold today increased by 30 USD/ounce.
Gold prices rose sharply today as investors poured capital into precious metals amid concerns about risks that could come from global trade tensions.
Financial news agency Dow Jones Newswires reported that US President Donald Trump's expanding trade war has prompted investors to seek refuge in gold, while strong buying by central banks has also pushed gold prices higher.
On the other hand, the US Department of Commerce announced that in February 2025, the core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index - the US Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure - increased by 0.4%, 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous month.
Over the past 12 months, core inflation in the US has increased by 2.8%, 0.1 percentage point higher than the forecast of an annual increase of 2.7%.
Rising inflation also causes financial investors to increase their gold purchases to hedge against inflation risks. Gold prices today naturally rose to a new high.
Previously, in Vietnam, on March 28, the selling price of SJC gold reached 100.2 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings was 100.1 million VND/tael.
