Domestic coffee price list updated at 4:30 a.m. on February 1, 2025

Coffee prices have been rising in recent times due to a number of key reasons, according to coffee industry experts. First, delays in shipments due to the Tet holiday in Vietnam have caused disruptions in supply. At the same time, roasters on the London Stock Exchange have increased their purchases, pushing prices higher. The exchange has also been forced to buy more to maintain inventory levels.

Currently, the cost of transporting goods from Vietnam to the London warehouse has increased to about 400 USD/ton, pushing the export price from Vietnam to more than 5,000 USD/ton. Most of the purchase contracts at higher prices are used immediately for production, instead of going through the exchange as before.

At current coffee prices, speculation is difficult due to the high capital requirements and the risk of falling prices. Roasters are now buying only enough to cover about a month’s production, instead of the usual 3-6 months. This has led to low inventories, forcing roasters to accept higher prices when they need the goods.

According to the leader of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), an important reason why coffee prices can reach the current "unimaginable" level is because farmers have stable finances and are not in a hurry to sell their products. They are regulating supply by selling slowly. Meanwhile, global coffee demand remains high, contributing to pushing up prices. It is forecasted that from now until May 2025, coffee prices are expected to remain high because supply still depends heavily on Vietnam.
