Player Gavi was seriously injured while on duty for the Spanish national team, so FIFA will compensate Barca a large sum of more than 5 million Euros.

Barca was one of the clubs that received "bad" news from the FIFA Days in November when Gavi tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, expected to be out of action for 7-9 months.
Barca's young star had to leave the field in tears in the 26th minute after an aerial challenge in Spain's 3-1 win over Georgia in the EURO 2024 qualifiers on November 19.
This is a heavy blow for Barca as well as Gavi himself. In addition to having to sit out the rest of the season, Gavi will also miss two important tournaments: EURO 2024 and the Olympic Games with the Spanish team.
At 19, Gavi has played an important role in coach Xavi's squad. He has played 12 matches in La Liga as well as 3 matches in the Champions League for Barca, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist.
Because Gavi was injured while on national team duty, FIFA is responsible for "compensating" Barca when the club still pays the players' salaries while they cannot play.
The expected break could be up to 9 months, so the highest compensation the Catalan team will receive is about 5.5 million Euros based on 20,548 Euros/day.
Certainly coach Xavi only hopes that the Spanish team and FIFA will return a healthy Gavi like before, but that is a risk on the field and the above amount helps Barca cover some of the costs in the context of the club's difficult economic situation.
Barca are currently third in La Liga with 30 points, four points behind leaders Girona and two behind Real Madrid. In the Champions League, the team almost secured an early ticket to the round of 16 in the fourth round, so it's just a matter of time.
