Today, October 22, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued a decision approving the project documents on Strengthening Community Resilience to Climate Change sponsored by Plan International.
The project aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable groups to climate change in disaster-prone areas in Quang Tri province and to strengthen the capacity of local authorities in disaster risk management and climate change response.
Project implementation locations are in the communes: Vinh Son, Vinh Long (Vinh Linh district); Mo O, Huong Hiep (Dakrong district); Huc, Thuan (Huong Hoa district). Project implementation period is from 2024 to 2027. Total project implementation capital is 6,983,432,494 VND (non-refundable aid capital).
The project’s key outcomes include: improving community resilience to climate change-related natural hazards in Quang Tri through gender-responsive and inclusive disaster risk management planning; empowering local authorities in rural and urban areas to implement community-based climate change resilience actions; creating an enabling environment for youth-centered climate change resilience actions and applying disaster risk planning tools at commune and district levels.
According to the decision, the Provincial Red Cross Society is assigned to manage and implement the project.
