(CLO) On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), on the morning of December 4, in Hanoi, the National Archives Center III organized an introduction of a set of national archives with the theme "80 Years of the Vietnam People's Army" including nearly 150 valuable documents and images.
The introduced set of documents reflects the process of formation, construction, fighting and development of the Vietnam People's Army from the early days of establishing the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army in December 1944 under the command of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, to the resounding victories in the wars against French colonialism, American imperialism and defending the Fatherland in peacetime.
Major General Pham Son Duong (only son of late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong) shared at the presentation of archival documents.
Outstanding documents include President Ho Chi Minh's directive on the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap's speech at the establishment ceremony; images of important campaigns such as the Viet Bac and Dien Bien Phu campaigns... The document set also provides information on the process of organizing the apparatus, military insignia, ranks, uniforms and policies towards soldiers through important decrees and official dispatches...
These documents are not only a testament to the maturity of the Vietnam People's Army but also a valuable source of information on historical feats, defense policies and the army's dedication to protecting the country.
