The Italian national team has announced a preliminary list of 30 players for EURO 2024. Coach Luciano Spalletti will eliminate 4 names before officially entering the journey to defend the championship in Germany.
The Italian national team's lineup has changed a lot compared to when they won EURO 2020. The main players who helped Italy reach the top of Europe are only goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo, midfielders Jorginho, Nicolo Barella and striker Federico Chiesa.
If counting the reserve players at EURO 2020, the European champions present in the current Italian national team list also include Alex Meret, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Bryan Cristante, Giacomo Raspadori.
Coach Luciano Spalletti showed his toughness when he dropped three famous stars of the Italian national team: Ciro Immobile, Manuel Locatelli and Marco Verratti. In addition, Nicolo Zaniolo is injured and Sandro Tonali is suspended for gambling.
Among the new players of the Italian national team, striker Gianluca Scamacca and center-back Giorgio Scalvini are the two most prominent faces, having just helped Atalanta win the 2023/2024 Europa League.
