Binh Thuan tourism accelerates!

Việt NamViệt Nam31/08/2023

Since the two expressways were opened, Binh Thuan has seen a huge increase in the number of tourists, especially after hosting the National Tourism Year 2023, "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". To achieve such results, it is impossible not to mention the efforts of localities in building and maintaining the image of a safe, friendly and quality destination, contributing to helping the province's tourism achieve positive results.

Get back in shape

The successful organization of the Opening Ceremony and activities of the National Tourism Year 2023 is a great opportunity for Binh Thuan tourism to become a bright spot in the development of tourism in the Central region and the whole country in the coming time. It is most obvious on weekends this summer, the streets of food service businesses in Phan Thiet City are bustling with traffic, sometimes with traffic jams. Few people believe it, because Phan Thiet's inner city has always been open, traffic jams are rare, but the tourism industry has really regained its "form" after a long period of "hibernation". Since the highway was built, new tours and routes have been formed and strongly developed such as Phu Quy Island tourism route, Cu Lao Cau tourism route, Provincial Party Committee Base relic site... attracting a large number of tourists to visit and learn about local tourist attractions.

Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has welcomed more than 5.3 million visitors, an increase of 82% over the same period last year (of which international visitors are about 133,500, an increase of 4 times over the same period), with revenue from tourism activities reaching nearly 13,450 billion VND, an increase of 2.1 times over the same period... According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this is a result beyond expectations, thanks to the great efforts of the whole industry. The above figures strongly contribute to encouraging and motivating the spirit of efforts of localities and businesses to overcome difficulties and rise up, while creating motivation and encouragement for the whole industry to strive to successfully complete the set goals.

However, due to the current complicated developments in the world: political and religious conflicts, increasingly fierce competition to attract tourists among countries in the region... have had a significant impact on the tourism industry in our country in general and Binh Thuan tourism in particular, so the number of international tourists to the province has recovered relatively slowly. In addition, after a long period of being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the quality of services in accommodation establishments has shown signs of decline, especially in coastal areas. Although tourism products have improved, they have not created a breakthrough and have not had a strong attraction for tourists. The situation of street vendors, beggars, and soliciting tourists still exists and is showing signs of increasing. Environmental sanitation in some places is not good, the situation of waste and wastewater in tourist areas, beaches and residential areas, public places... has not been thoroughly handled. Coastal erosion and lack of management and synchronous implementation in the construction of sea dykes, especially in the Ham Tien - Mui Ne area, have affected the aesthetics and safety of the beach...

Soon to become a key economic sector

With many activities on the occasion of September 2, within the chain of activities of the National Tourism Year and the efforts of localities, perhaps the province's tourism industry will easily achieve the set goals. That is, the whole year welcomed 6.720 million visitors, an increase of 17.48% over the same period (of which international visitors were 220,000, an increase of 2.5 times) and achieved total revenue from tourists of 15,900 billion VND, an increase of 16.23% compared to 2022. Looking further, striving to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2025, welcoming 8.9 million visitors, of which international visitors account for 10 - 12%. Revenue from tourism activities reached 23,300 billion VND, with an average growth rate of 18 - 20% per year in the period 2021 - 2025. Tourism contributes 10 - 11% to the province's GRDP.

To achieve this goal, localities, tourism sectors, and tourism businesses need to continue to improve the quality of existing products and services. Strengthen tourism promotion and advertising, focus on training human resources, organize many unique events and festivals to attract visitors... Currently, in addition to high-end tourism products such as: Golf, high-end beach resorts, sea sports tourism, terrain sports tourism... Binh Thuan is developing main tourism product lines such as "green" tourism, linking tourism activities with preserving and promoting resource values and protecting the environment; cultural tourism associated with festivals, visiting and learning about the life of the community, traditional craft villages; promoting the development of agricultural tourism products, forest - sea - sand hill ecology, conquering nature, adventure; combining resort tourism - MICE...

In the coming time, Binh Thuan tourism industry will focus on implementing key tasks such as developing a project to establish the Mui Ne National Tourism Area Management Board; Developing a master plan for Mui Ne National Tourism Area until 2040, with a vision to 2050; Successfully organizing the National Tourism Year 2023 in Binh Thuan; Completing the construction of the Binh Thuan Provincial Theater and Cultural and Art Exhibition, the project to Preserve, restore and promote the value of the Po Sah Inư Tower relic... In addition, promoting communication in international tourist markets about Vietnam's new visa policy, effective from August 15, 2023. It is necessary to focus on tourism promotion activities in key international markets with large numbers of visitors and great potential such as China, Korea, India, the UK... Focus on preparing well for the peak international tourist season starting from September.
