On April 2, the Agoda Diving Deals 2025 survey revealed interesting trends among Asian diving enthusiasts. Accordingly, Thailand was voted by Vietnamese tourists as the top diving paradise with clear blue waters, rich marine ecosystems and world-class diving spots.
Asia has long been a dream destination for diving enthusiasts, home to world-class diving sites, said Gede Gunawan, Senior Country Manager for Indonesia at Agoda.
Agoda’s survey of 11 Asian markets confirms the region’s status as a diving paradise, particularly Southeast Asia. With countless mysterious dive sites and rich marine ecosystems, Southeast Asia continues to fascinate divers with its breathtaking ocean views and unique marine ecosystems.

Thailand is the top diving destination for Vietnamese tourists.
Thanks to its diverse marine ecosystem and convenient transportation, Thailand is considered the top choice for Vietnamese tourists who want to experience scuba diving. Not only Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are also popular destinations for Vietnamese tourists, showing the increasing interest in exploring the beauty of the underwater world.
In Asia, Indonesia tops the list of most popular diving destinations, followed by the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. These countries possess unique ocean treasures, attracting divers from all over the world.
Diving to enjoy the feeling of relaxation in the middle of the vast ocean
Many tourists find absolute peace in the sea, where they can relax and forget their worries. Nearly a third (about 30%) of the survey respondents said they scuba dive to enjoy the feeling of relaxation and tranquility in the vast ocean. This trend is especially popular among tourists from the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.
In addition, the passion for exploring the underwater world is also a big motivator, with 24% of visitors attracted by the mysterious beauty and rich, fascinating marine ecosystem.

Prioritize cost-effectiveness, but be willing to spend more
The survey found that scuba diving enthusiasts are always looking for affordable accommodation, but are not afraid to spend more on their underwater experience. 40% of respondents said they would spend 15-30% more on scuba diving trips than they would on a regular vacation.
Diving trips usually last from 4-7 days.
Short trips are becoming a trend in scuba diving tourism, with 48% of travelers preferring itineraries lasting between 4-7 days. Weekend scuba diving trips are also popular, with 40% of survey respondents opting for this type of trip. This trend reflects the growing demand for short but fulfilling experiences that suit the dynamic lifestyle of modern travelers.
Coral reefs are the most popular diving destinations
75% of scuba diving enthusiasts prioritize coral reefs as their ideal destination for their ocean exploration journey. With its diverse ecosystems and vibrant coral reefs, Asia continues to attract tourists, affirming its position as an unmissable destination for scuba diving enthusiasts.
