Overall assessment, Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Huong, Vice Principal of Thanh Cong Secondary School, Ba Dinh District, commented that the exam was basic and clear, with no tricky or tricky questions, and tested students' knowledge and skills relatively comprehensively. The questions were arranged logically, ensuring four levels of recognition, understanding, application and high application.
Part I of the exam uses material from the work Distant Stars . Ms. Huong said that this is the only story in the second semester program of grade 9, so all students have reviewed it carefully.
Question 3 of this section requires students to write a 15-sentence paragraph using the synthesis-analysis-synthesis argumentation method about the camaraderie of the three characters Nho, Thao and Phuong Dinh. Ms. Huong commented that this is all basic knowledge, and students have focused on practicing before the exam.
Part II uses non-textbook material, an excerpt from a letter from a father to his child. Ms. Hoang Dieu Thuy, head of Literature Group 9, Thai Thinh Secondary School, Dong Da District, assessed the material as good, full of emotions, awakening many thoughts and feelings in the young generation.
In addition to the Vietnamese questions, this section requires students to express their feelings about a father’s love for his child. Ms. Thuy believes that this is a good question, helping the writer express his personal feelings and thoughts, avoiding students having to memorize sample essays.
The final question raises the issue of "sometimes our emotions will become worries for our loved ones, if you cannot control it", and asks students to present their thoughts on the meaning of controlling personal emotions. According to Ms. Thuy, the social argumentation topic is open and realistic. Students are given the opportunity to express their views, opinions and give appropriate explanations.
"This question is humane and positive, guiding students to know how to control their emotions in life. This is a matter of concern for today's youth," Ms. Thuy said, but also reminded students that the focus of the problem lies in the meaning, so candidates should avoid writing in a rambling manner without highlighting the requirements of the question.
Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Nhung, head of the Literature group at Ly Thai To Secondary and High School in Cau Giay District, said that this year's Literature exam was not more difficult than last year's, within the students' ability and able to classify students with good and excellent academic performance. Ms. Nhung assessed that with about 65% of the questions at the recognition and understanding level, many students would get a score of 7.
Sharing the same opinion, teachers of the Literature group, HOCMAI Education System, also predicted that the average score range would not be low, around 7-8 points.
This afternoon, students will continue to take the Foreign Language exam for 60 minutes. Tomorrow morning, they will take the Math exam for 120 minutes. To be considered for admission, candidates must complete all exams, not violate regulations, and not receive a score of 0 in any exam. The admission score for non-specialized high schools is the sum of Literature and Math scores multiplied by two, plus the Foreign Language and priority scores.
Students who register for specialized schools will take an additional specialized subject test on June 12. The admission score for specialized 10th grade is the sum of the three Math, Literature, and Foreign Language exams and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two.
Hanoi's public 10th grade benchmark scores were announced on July 8-9.
