On the afternoon of April 11, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department has just submitted to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to consider increasing the enrollment quota for grade 10 at 3 schools, including: Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Thi Dinh High School for the Gifted in Sports and the newly established high school in Binh Tan District.

Accordingly, the total enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year of 115 high schools in Ho Chi Minh City is 70,070 students. If the above proposal is approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the enrollment target for grade 10 public schools this year will reach more than 80%, instead of 79% as announced.
Increasing the quota will create conditions for students to study at public high schools, thereby reducing pressure on the 10th grade entrance exam. The basis for increasing the quota is based on the conditions of facilities, teaching staff and students' learning needs.
In addition, according to Mr. Minh, the total enrollment target of public continuing education centers and vocational education - continuing education centers in the city implementing the high school program is 17,244 targets, accounting for 19.5%.
To take the 10th grade entrance exam, candidates are required to take 3 subjects: Literature, Math and Foreign Language. Candidates registering for specialized 10th grade will take an additional specialized subject.
