The contractor constructing the Lo Te - Rach Soi route has had a good time recently as the traffic diversion sections for construction have been extended longer than the time when the upgrade of this route began.
Extend traffic lane length
According to the investigation of Giao thong Newspaper reporters, the investment project to upgrade the road surface of Lo Te - Rach Soi route has a total length of 51.5km. The construction unit is a joint venture of Hai Dang Joint Stock Company and Saigon Traffic Construction Company.
Extending the traffic lanes facilitates the contractor to upgrade the Lo Te - Rach Soi route.
Of which, Hai Dang Joint Stock Company is responsible for 80%. The remaining length is under the responsibility of Saigon Traffic Construction Company.
The contractor mainly carries out work related to compensation, concrete pavement to strengthen the road surface, expansion of existing emergency stops and addition of new emergency stops...
The contractor representative said that the project is being exploited and has a median strip in the middle. Therefore, to complete the assigned work, the contractor must organize traffic flow on one side and use the other side for construction.
Previously, according to regulations, this traffic diversion had a maximum length of 300m. But now, after receiving the approval of Road Management Area IV, a pilot construction section is being carried out by the contractor with a length of 1km.
The extended traffic lane length makes construction more convenient for contractors, saving time moving the median strip and setting up multiple signaling systems between jobs.
Workers are busy working on the construction site to speed up the project progress.
At the same time, with the current construction organization, the upgrading of Lo Te - Rach Soi route is carried out continuously and the contractor does not have to temporarily open traffic on the recycled scraped layer, so the quality is guaranteed when the project is completed and put into use according to regulations.
"The project construction area is at the peak of the rainy season, construction units have taken advantage of every day when the weather is favorable to carry out construction," My Thuan Project Management Board (investor) shared.
13 construction sites continuously working
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the Lo Te - Rach Soi route started construction on June 13, 2024 and is expected to be completed and put into use on September 30, 2025. However, the contractors have committed to the investor to complete the project 3 months earlier, meaning it will be put into use on June 30, 2025.
The contractor took advantage of all conditions to organize the construction of the Lo Te - Rach Soi route.
Therefore, to meet the planned progress, the contractor has increased human resources, equipment and machinery. Currently, there are 125 people on the construction site; including 18 technical staff, 47 drivers, machine operators and 60 workers.
At the same time, the contractor also arranged 13 continuous construction teams. Specifically, the construction units organized three teams for scraping and recycling; two teams for asphalt concrete construction; three teams for cement pile construction (with two pilot drills); three teams for emergency lane construction and two teams for reinforcing the culvert transition slab.
The Lo Te - Rach Soi route is expected to be completed 3 months earlier than planned.
"The cumulative construction output of the entire project to date has reached about 34 billion VND, equivalent to 6%.
It is expected that by the end of November, the construction units will add construction teams, speed up the progress to ensure the project is completed before June 30, 2025, 3 months earlier than the signed contract," My Thuan Project Management Board added.
The first phase of Lo Te - Rach Soi route was put into operation in early 2021 with a length of 51.5km, 4 lanes, 17m wide roadbed, 15.5m wide road surface. In the completed phase, the route will be invested with 6 lanes, designed speed of 100km/h.
This project has a total investment of 6,355 billion VND in phase 1, using a loan of 200 million USD from the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund and counterpart capital from Vietnam of more than 94 million USD.
After opening to traffic, the Lo Te - Rach Soi route will be monitored for subsidence for 1 to 2 years before adding asphalt concrete, and when there is a policy, additional items will be upgraded to meet expressway standards.
According to the planning, the Lo Te - Rach Soi, Cao Lanh - Lo Te, My An - Cao Lanh, N2, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa routes are part of the North - South expressway in the West.
In October 2022, the Ministry of Transport approved investment in the project to upgrade the road surface of Lo Te - Rach Soi route with a total investment of 750 billion VND.
