On the afternoon of May 17, Comrade Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a courtesy reception with Mr. Keijo Norvanto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Vietnam. Also receiving the reception were Comrade Nguyen Cao Son, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.
Pleased to welcome the Ambassador and members of the delegation to visit and work in the province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc expressed his admiration for the development of Finland - one of the leading countries in green and sustainable development.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also briefly introduced the geopolitical characteristics and socio-economic development situation of the province. He emphasized that in the strategic development orientation, Ninh Binh determined to take the cultural foundation of the land with a long history and promote the value of natural heritage as the foundation and driving force for green and sustainable development.
Ninh Binh has built tourism as a spearhead economic sector. In 2022 and previous years, Ninh Binh has always been in the top 10 provinces with the largest number of tourists in the country; voted by many prestigious international magazines and tourism organizations as a safe, friendly and attractive destination in the world. In particular, Trang An heritage is assessed by the Director General of UNESCO as a typical and exemplary model of the world in preserving and promoting heritage values, ensuring harmony between the interests of the state, businesses and people.
Also with the orientation of green and sustainable development, in the past 15 years, Ninh Binh has focused on attracting high-tech, environmentally friendly projects, creating momentum for growth. Agriculture develops in the direction of organic, circular, endemic, and specialty. In the period of 2016 - 2021, Ninh Binh has always maintained an average growth rate of 9%/year and in the past 2 years, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the province's growth rate has always been among the highest in the country. In addition, the province has also paid attention to investing in culture, health care, education, construction, and rural development to develop evenly.
Emphasizing the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that the Ambassador would be a bridge to introduce the potential and strengths of Ninh Binh to capable and reputable investors from Finland, thereby opening up opportunities for research, cooperation, investment and experience exchange between the two sides.
Ambassador Keijo Norvanto thanked the provincial People's Committee leaders for their warm welcome, congratulated Ninh Binh on the important achievements it has made in recent times, and expressed his deep impression on the historical value, natural landscape, and beauty of the land and people of Ninh Binh.
The Ambassador said: On January 25, 1973, Vietnam and Finland officially established diplomatic relations. Over the past 50 years, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been maintained and developed well.
Agreeing with the development orientation of Ninh Binh, the Ambassador said that this visit and work in Ninh Binh will be an opportunity to enhance in-depth understanding, promote development cooperation in many areas of mutual interest to both Finland and Ninh Binh, thereby expanding local diplomacy, for the development of both countries.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues of mutual concern in the green and sustainable development strategy, especially in areas where both sides have potential and strengths such as: forest development; smart urban development; nature conservation, environmental protection for tourism development; clean energy industry development, including advanced circular power generation technology; carbon emission reduction projects; some technologies for grinding, product classification and artificial sand production...
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented the Ambassador with a gift representing Ninh Binh culture, and respectfully invited him to attend Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2023 with the theme "The Golden Color of Tam Coc - Trang An" which will open on May 27, thereby contributing to consolidating and tightening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, for peace, stability and development of each country, in the region and in the world.
