Ms. Luong Thi Yen Van (owner of a noodle squash garden in Xuan Tho commune, Da Lat city, Lam Dong) said: "I often research strange fruits on the internet. One time, I accidentally went to YouTube and saw a strange squash variety. When I pulled out the inside, there were noodles-like fibers. So I bought these seeds from a company in Japan to try planting them."

With the seeds, Ms. Van planted them experimentally on her family's land in Xuan Tho commune. From the initial few hundred meters, she expanded the area of cultivating cassava but still could not produce enough products to supply the market. Therefore, she established the Dalat Home Garden Cooperative to link with farmers to produce cassava on an area of more than 2 hectares.

The cassava squash is grown in a greenhouse, from planting to harvest taking about 75 days. The squash garden is watered automatically with a pre-installed drip system, watered twice a day; grown organically, completely without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The owner uses yellow light boxes and yellow stickers to trap insects. Ms. Van added that this is a hermaphrodite squash, to ensure 100% pollination, the grower must pollinate the squash by hand, the most suitable time is from 6 - 8 am.
Finger lime
A spaghetti squash weighs from 1.1 to 1.5 kg and is sold for 120,000 to 150,000 VND/fruit. The squash is sold under contract and has not been widely sold, but is always in a state of supply not meeting demand. Ms. Van said that in addition to spaghetti squash, the cooperative has recently continued to research new and unique plant varieties such as pink-fleshed radish, Sweet Palermo pepper, Colombian passion fruit, finger lime, rainbow carrots, etc.
Pink radish
Up to now, Dalat Garden Cooperative has cooperated with 225 households to produce over 150 types of agricultural products according to high-tech, organic agricultural processes. The products are granted VietGap certification, using the brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from good land". Currently, Dalat Garden Cooperative supplies the market with 5 - 6 tons of various vegetables every day, mainly supplying to restaurant chains and clean vegetable stores nationwide; including about 300 kg of squash noodles.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuong Thao, manager of the TikTok channel "Strange dishes from home garden" of the Dalat Garden Cooperative, said: "In this day and age, selling products through TikTok, Facebook, and Zalo platforms is very effective. I still remember that the livestream session introducing squash noodles became a phenomenon on TikTok, in one session, thousands of orders were sold, bringing the revenue from selling agricultural products of the Dalat Garden Cooperative that month to more than a billion VND."
In November 2023, Ms. Thao received the Luong Dinh Cua award on behalf of Da Lat Garden Cooperative.
