NDO - On April 4 and 5, many agencies, offices, and organizations in Hanoi simultaneously flew flags at half-mast in accordance with the National Mourning Ceremony, commemorating General Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Stemming from the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organize a State funeral for comrade Khamtay Siphandone on April 4 and 5, 2025.

During this time, in Hanoi, all agencies and offices nationwide and Vietnamese representatives abroad will fly flags at half-mast; all public entertainment activities will be suspended.

In the solemn space of Ba Dinh Square, the national flag was flown at half-mast in front of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, sending off comrade Khamtay Siphandone - a close comrade and great friend of the Vietnamese people.

The flag was flown at half-mast on top of the Hanoi Flag Tower, a symbolic landmark of the capital, representing the solemn National Funeral ceremony.

During this time, in the capital Hanoi, all agencies and offices will fly flags at half-mast and stop public entertainment activities.

The flag-raising ceremony not only expresses deep condolences for comrade Khamtay Siphandone, but also honors his great contributions to building and strengthening the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
