Vietnam delegation exceeded the target of 120 gold medals

(HNMO) - On May 15, the Vietnamese sports delegation entered the penultimate competition day of the 32nd SEA Games with many attractive sports such as stick fighting, taekwondo, judo, fencing, wrestling, kick boxing, chess, table tennis, women's football... The athletes still competed with determination, bringing home 17 more gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.

Vietnam women's team won the gold medal in women's football at the 32nd SEA Games.

The most impressive match was the women's football final, at the Olympic Stadium (Phnom Penh, Cambodia), the Vietnamese women's football team played brilliantly, won convincingly against the Myanmar women's team, successfully defended the SEA Games Championship, and set a record of 4 consecutive gold medals.

Wrestling has no rival

In wrestling, Vietnamese wrestlers also had an explosive day, winning all 6 final events. In the women's 50kg event, wrestler Nguyen Thi Xuan defeated her opponent from the Philippines, winning the gold medal.

In the final of the women's 57kg category, Nguyen Thi My Trang won the Gold Medal after defeating her opponent from Cambodia with a choke in less than 30 seconds. In the women's 59kg category, Tran Anh Tuyet completed the Gold Medal achievement after easily defeating the athlete from Thailand with the same choke.

Not stopping there, the Vietnamese wrestling team has 3 more gold medals from athletes Nguyen Thi My Hanh (62kg women), Lai Dieu Thuong (68kg women) and Dang Thi Linh (76kg women).

During the whole competition day, we participated in 6 weight classes and won all 6 events.

The highlight of this competition day was that in judo, Vietnamese athletes performed excellently and won all the gold medals in the four finals. Accordingly, in the final of the women's 44kg event, Nguyen Nhac Nhu An defeated Laotian athlete - Ouanvilay with an ippon move, winning the gold medal. In the final of the women's 48kg event, Hoang Thi Tinh defeated Thai athlete Muenjit also with an ippon move.

In the final match of the men's 90kg event, martial artist Le Anh Tai continued to defeat Thai martial artist Puyang with an ippon move, winning the gold medal. In the final match of the women's 52kg event, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy defeated the host martial artist of Cambodia, Yanagiha, bringing home the 4th gold medal for Vietnamese judo on the competition day of May 15.

Thus, the Vietnamese judo team won gold medals in 4/4 events.

Vietnam won the gold medal in men's sabre team.

In fencing , the athletes competed excellently and won 1 gold medal. In the qualifying round, athletes Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Van Quyet, To Duc Anh, Nguyen Xuan Loi competed excellently and defeated the Malaysian team in the men's sabre team event.

In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese men's team continued to beat the Philippines and entered the final match against Singapore. Superiority in class and mental composure helped the Vietnamese fencers defeat their opponents with a score of 45-31 and successfully defend their SEA Games Gold Medal.

In Sepak Takraw , Nguyen Thi Yen, Tran Thi Ngoc Yen and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen won the gold medal in the women's doubles, leading the group with 3 wins and 1 loss. The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team had the same score as Indonesia and Myanmar, but had a better sub-index.

Kickboxing also brought two more gold medals to Vietnamese sports: Nguyen Thi Hang Nga (women's under-48 kg category); Le Thi Nhi (women's under-50 kg category).

In addition, the two martial arts of taekwondo and stick fighting also brought home two more gold medals: Pham Dang Quang (men's 63 kg, taekwondo); Vu Thi Thanh Binh (women's single, stick fighting).

As of 10:00 p.m. on May 15, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation firmly topped the rankings with 123 gold medals, 100 silver medals, and 98 bronze medals.

Following in turn are the Thai Sports Delegation with 94 gold medals, 76 silver medals, 93 bronze medals and the Indonesian Sports Delegation with 74 gold medals, 67 silver medals, 92 bronze medals.

Host country Cambodia ranked 4th with 71 gold medals, 68 silver medals, and 113 bronze medals.
