Specifically, on April 3, 2025, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam will lead a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam to visit former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamtay Siphandone in Vientiane (Laos).
Comrade General Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Party, former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, veteran revolutionary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on April 2, 2025, at the age of 102.
Comrade General Khamtay Siphandone is the first generation leader of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, a key member of the Party Central Committee who led and directed the previous national democratic revolution and the cause of national defense and development, as well as a pioneer leader in implementing the comprehensive and principled renovation policy of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
He was a patriot, revolutionary and advanced leader of the Lao Party and State. Throughout his life, he devoted his intelligence and strength to the revolutionary cause of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party for the development of the country and for the prosperity of the Lao people.
To express condolences and commemorate General Khamtay Siphandone, the Central Committee of the Lao Party, the National Assembly, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction decided to hold a state funeral for General Khamtay Siphandone for 5 days, from April 3 to 7.
