It was not until the 5th official competition day that the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation won the first gold medal at the 4th Asian Para Games. Athlete Le Tien Dat won first place in the men's 100m breaststroke, disability category SB5.
The final of this event has 4 athletes participating, including 3 Vietnamese athletes: Le Tien Dat, Do Thanh Hai, Danh Hoa and 1 swimmer from the host country: Luo Jinbiao. This means that the Vietnamese team is sure to have at least 2 medals before the competition.
The three Vietnamese swimmers took the lead after the first 50 meters. In the second half, Luo Jinbiao accelerated to overtake Danh Hoa. In the final stretch, Le Tien Dat made a strong breakaway and finished first with a time of 1 minute 34 seconds 04. Second place went to Do Thanh Hai with a time of 1 minute 35 seconds 11. The Chinese athlete won the bronze medal with a time of 1 minute 50 seconds 24.

This is the first gold medal of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation at the 4th Asian Para Games. As of 10:00 a.m. on October 27, the Vietnamese delegation had 1 gold medal, 8 silver medals and 6 bronze medals, ranking 20th on the medal tally.
The Chinese delegation ranked first with 163 gold medals, 134 silver medals and 114 bronze medals.
The 4th Asian Para Games took place from October 22 to October 28 in Hangzhou, China. The event was attended by more than 3,000 athletes from 44 sports delegations. The athletes competed in 22 sports.
The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation participated with 71 members (48 athletes), competing in 7 sports: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, chess, table tennis, badminton, taekwondo. The delegation aims to win 3-4 gold medals and have athletes qualified for the 2024 Paralympics.
