Members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Vu Hong Anh, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, together with leaders of a number of departments, branches and 25 veteran delegates who directly participated in and contributed to the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, offered incense.
The delegates respectfully offered incense, took a minute to remember, and expressed their infinite gratitude for the great contributions of the great President Ho Chi Minh.
On June 5, 1911, Nguyen Tat Thanh, with the name Van Ba (President Ho Chi Minh), applied to be a kitchen assistant on the ship Amiral Latouche Treville leaving Saigon Port to go abroad to find a way to save the country.
After 30 years in France and many other countries and continents, he returned to the country to directly lead the Vietnamese people to rise up to liberate the nation from the domination of colonialism and imperialism, and gain independence and unification for the Fatherland.
To commemorate the above event, after the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Nha Rong was renovated into a memorial site for President Ho Chi Minh. In October 1995, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to change the name of the memorial site for President Ho Chi Minh to the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ho Chi Minh City branch.
On the same morning, the delegates visited Dinh Loc Lap. Through the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, at 10:45 a.m. on April 30, 1975, tank number 390 crashed through the main gate and entered the Independence Palace.
At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, Lieutenant Bui Quang Than, the commander of Tank Company 843, lowered the 3-striped flag and raised the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. The flag fluttered on the roof of the Independence Palace, ending 30 years of arduous and heroic war of the Vietnamese people.
Today, the Independence Palace is a special national monument visited by many domestic and international tourists and is a place to hold conferences and receive guests of Central leaders.
The provincial delegation has completed its trip to visit and participate in a number of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). At noon on March 30, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented souvenirs to veterans and said goodbye to the delegation.
