With the coordination and support of the Myanmar and United Arab Emirates (UAE) rescue forces, the Vietnam People's Army rescue team continues to race against time to search for earthquake victims at the Ottara Thiri private hospital in the capital Naypyidaw, Myanmar.
At nearly 1:00 p.m. on April 3 (local time), rescuers brought three more bodies out.
On the morning of April 3, the Vietnam People's Army rescue team divided its forces to rescue in two areas inside Ottara Thiri Hospital, where sniffer dogs and search equipment located three victims buried in the rubble.
In one area, rescuers had to use an excavator to break the outer wall, then chisel away the collapsed second floor to open a path down to the first floor to access the location where the victim was buried.
Notably, a UAE rescue team carrying sniffer dogs and specialized equipment arrived to coordinate rescue work with Vietnamese forces.
Despite the hot weather and the difficult access to the area where the victims were buried, the rescue forces of the Vietnam People's Army, Myanmar, and the UAE coordinated effectively, working non-stop throughout the morning and were able to bring out all three bodies. The victims were all elderly.
Also on April 3, the Vietnamese rescue team continued to deploy a medical team to set up tents at Ottara Thiri Hospital to examine and provide medicine to local people. In addition, the team also sent a team to assess the situation and search for locations where rescue operations should be carried out in the capital Naypyidaw.
