California Actor John Cena took the stage to announce the Best Costume Design award at the 2024 Oscars in a state of undress.

Before going on stage to present the award on the morning of March 11 (Hanoi time) at the Dolby Theater, John Cena stood in a corner of the stage, joking with host Jimmy Kimmel. Cena told Kimmel: "I don't want to do that. I just don't feel right about it. This is a formal event, you should feel ashamed for suggesting such a tasteless joke." Kimmel replied: "It's just for laughs" and Cena replied: "The male body is not a joke."

Cena then surprised the audience by walking out on stage without any clothes on, covering his private parts with the envelope containing the results. The audience burst into laughter when Cena couldn't move the envelope to open it. Jimmy Kimmel then "saved" Cena by bringing out a curtain and wrapping it around him.

According to Variety , hosts Jimmy Kimmel and John Cena scripted the prank to evoke a similar classic moment at the 1974 Oscars. That year, a naked man also ran onto the stage while David Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor. Nude people interrupting public events was a trend among fans in the 1970s.

John Cena, 47 years old, is an American actor, rapper, and professional wrestler. He is considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, a 16-time WWE champion. Cena has starred in the films: The Marine, 12 Rounds, Blockers, Playing with Fire. Currently He took on the lead role in the comedy Ricky Stanicky.
