On March 25, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Embassy of Vietnam in Bangladesh and the Vietnam Business Association in Bangladesh, organized the "Vietnam-Bangladesh Cross-Border E-Commerce Promotion Forum".

The event took place in the capital Dhaka with the participation of more than 100 delegates from Vietnam and Bangladesh. Attending and chairing the Forum were Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong; leaders of the Foreign Market Department; representatives of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam; leaders of the Vietnam Business Association in Bangladesh along with Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of Trade, Chairman of the E-Cab Association of Bangladesh.

The forum was truly an important bridge for more than 12 Vietnamese enterprises operating in the fields of e-commerce, agricultural products and fertilizers, steel structures to connect with more than 90 Bangladeshi enterprises. Delegates enthusiastically discussed the significant potential for trade cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of cross-border e-commerce.

Both Vietnam and Bangladesh have complementary import-export structures. Vietnam has the fastest growing e-commerce industry in Southeast Asia and the world, with a market size of up to 25 billion USD by 2024.

Bangladesh is a market with a large population (over 170 million people), a developed technology platform and a young workforce, promising to create many opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Speaking at the Forum, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that the traditional friendship between the two countries over the past 50 years has continued to develop and become increasingly deeper and more substantial; emphasizing the importance of promoting trade cooperation between the two countries, especially in the context of strong development of technology and e-commerce.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong suggested that businesses from both sides increase exchanges and cooperation to take advantage of new opportunities in the global market.

Overview of the Forum.

At the Forum, delegates from both sides agreed that Vietnam and Bangladesh still have a lot of potential to complement each other, such as Vietnam supplying rice, coffee, pepper, agricultural products (ginger, onion, garlic), and construction materials to Bangladesh; Bangladesh can supply pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical ingredients, jute, etc. to Vietnam.

In particular, e-commerce plays an important role in promoting trade between the two sides, promoting economic development and creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises.

Premier Bank leaders also gave a speech, pledging to be ready to guarantee payment for import-export contracts between the two sides, creating favorable conditions for trade transactions.

On this occasion, Vietnamese enterprises also introduced their products and services and expressed their desire to develop business cooperation with the Bangladesh market.

This is not only an opportunity to promote products and services but also an opportunity for businesses to directly meet partners, learn about market needs, thereby developing more effective business models, contributing to the sustainable development of both economies.
