Officials of the Women's Union of Cai Rang district and Hung Thanh ward visited the living conditions and business of female members who received loan support from the Union.
The Garment Processing Cooperative (THT) model was established by the Women's Union of Hung Thanh Ward in 2023. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Em, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the Ward, the THT currently has 9 members, with an income of 3-5 million VND/person/month. Ms. Le Thi Thuy Hang, a member of the THT, shared: "Previously, I was a housewife and took care of 2 young children. In 2023, with the encouragement and support of the Union's staff, I joined the THT and had a stable income of more than 4 million VND per month, and my family's economy gradually stabilized."
According to Ms. Thai Thi Tu Trinh, Vice President of the Women's Union of Cai Rang District, currently, the Women's Union at all levels in the district maintains and replicates 8 effective collective economic development models, with 77 members participating, with an income of 3-5 million VND/person/month. Typical models include "Women small traders develop household economy", "Folk cake making group", "Sewing processing group"... At the same time, the Union strengthens coordination with functional sectors to support members and women in accessing loan capital. The whole district has 58 groups borrowing capital from the Social Policy Bank, with 2,969 households borrowing, with a total capital of over 152 billion VND; effectively maintaining 71 capital contribution groups, with 3,312 members, supporting 232 women to borrow interest-free capital of over 435 million VND to serve production, livestock, small business, and garden renovation. In 2024 and the first 3 months of 2025, the Association coordinated training, job consultation and referral for 1,231 women, and created jobs for 837 women.
At the same time, the District Women's Union at all levels focused on implementing many practical support solutions through Project 939 "Supporting women to start a business in the period of 2017-2025". Ms. Mai Thi Thanh Tuyen, a member of the Women's Union of Hung Thanh Ward, said: "My family had no land for production. I used to trade to make a living, but due to lack of capital, I had to stop for a while. In 2024, the Union introduced me to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank, and my business gradually became more stable." Thanks to the capital, Ms. Tuyen opened a coffee shop and breakfast shop, earning more than 300,000 VND/day, and had better conditions to take care of her children's education. Previously, Ms. Tran Thi Nga Em, a member of the Women's Union of Hung Thanh Ward, was also very difficult. Her husband worked for hire, she stayed at home as a housewife, taking care of 2 young children. In early 2023, she was supported by the Union to apply for a loan of 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to buy and sell vegetables at the market. Thanks to that, she has a stable income of more than 6 million VND/month.
Along with supporting economic development, the District Women's Union at all levels cares about helping members and their children in difficult circumstances. In 2024 and 3 months of 2025, the Union at all levels mobilized to present 4,907 gifts to members in difficult circumstances on holidays and Tet, with a total value of more than 843 million VND; mobilized 351 gifts, worth 682 million VND, to support members' children who passed the military service exam. The Union's bases coordinated with religious organizations and philanthropists to give gifts and necessities to difficult cases; coordinated to mobilize support for the construction and repair of 5 Charity Homes for poor women, with a total value of 190 million VND...
Ms. Ho Thi Cong Dung, President of the Women's Union of Cai Rang District, excitedly informed: "From the effectiveness of models and forms of support, by the end of 2024, the Union helped 26 poor households with women to escape poverty. Currently, the whole district still has 25 poor households with women. The Women's Union at all levels continues to improve and replicate models to support members in economic activities, job creation, business start-ups... to help women escape poverty, improve their living standards, build prosperous, equal, and progressive families."
